Chapter Seven

‘Hey puddings, how are my favourite boys?’ Elise cooed over the video call as three little faces fought over the phone at the other end.

‘Awntie Lee, where the baba?’ came two year old Bailey’s voice as he grabbed the phone in his chubby hand and held it to his chin, giving Elise a fine view of his mouth.

Elise giggled, ‘still in my tummy Bailey Boo, they are still too comfy to come out’ she replied.

‘My wanna play the baba’ Bailey pouted before five year old Alex snatched the phone and held it in front of his face, showing off his gappy teeth.

Ignoring his whining youngest brother, Alex pulled down his lip, ‘Look Aunt Elise, my tooth is gone!’ he announced proudly, elbowing at both his brothers who continued to try and wrestle him to the ground for the phone.

Taking the phone, Brandon glared at the three boys who each gasped before shuffling around trying to palm the phone off to each other.

‘What did I say about sharing boys?’ Brandon asked sternly.

‘Sorry daddy’ came three chastised voices before the phone was pulled from their hands and Jayden swam into view, grinning.

‘Hey babe, we are all missing you’ she said happily.

Brandon snorted, ‘hmm I think you are the only one missing me baby, my sons demanded I hand the phone to Elise without so much as a hello’ he replied.

Jayden chuckled, ‘aww babe, don’t feel bad, Bailey has asked every night about when you are coming home for his daddy bedtime story’ she comforted.

Grinning Brandon’s face softened, ‘I'm missing them like crazy’ he said sadly.

‘What about your wife?’ Jayden enquired, quirking an eyebrow at him.

‘You know I am walking around half dead without you beautiful’ Brandon chuckled, shaking his head in amusement.

‘As you should be’ Jayden smirked, ‘now tell my sister in law to hurry up with that baby, I want a cuddle with my new niece or nephew’ she growled before blowing him a kiss as they said goodbye and disconnected the call.

Brandon looked over at Elise who was making vomiting noises, making the warrior laugh as he nudged her gently with his shoulder, ‘hey, she’s my mate, I miss her’ he growled.

Elise giggled, ‘it’s cute but you are still my big brave brother, it’s weird to see you all mushy’ she replied.

Rolling his eyes, Brandon stood up as he retorted, ‘yeah and Blaze isn’t exactly the same with you at all is he?’ his eyes dancing with mischief as Elise blushed deeply.

Stepping out of the bathroom in just some sweatpants, his hair still wet, Blaze looked between the siblings suspiciously, ‘what are you two talking about?’ he asked.

‘Nothing baby’ Elise replied with a wide smile, her eyes trailing down his exposed abs as her eyes darkened.

Glancing between the two, Brandon’s face screwed up as he groaned, ‘seriously Angel, can you save those kind of looks until I leave?’

Clearing her throat in embarrassment, Elise averted her gaze mumbling, ‘I don’t know what you are talking about.’

Shaking his head, Brandon leaned down to kiss the top of Elise’s head before heading toward the door with a wave of farewell to the Beta. Once the door shut behind him, Blaze prowled toward the pregnant she wolf who licked her lips nervously.

‘You need to stop staring at me like I'm your favourite meal’ he said huskily as he leaned down to capture her lips with his.

‘You need to stop looking so damn sexy’ the she wolf mumbled back into the kiss.

Chuckling, Blaze pulled away and helped his mate into bed, arranging the pillows around her bump carefully just how she liked them before walking around and getting in beside her.

Huffing, Elise snuggled down under the covers, ‘this baby needs to hurry up and get out of me’ she grumbled, ‘it’s not fun being a horny elephant’.

Leaning over her, Blaze kissed her lips gently before pulling away and looking down at her lovingly, ‘you are not an elephant princess, you are perfect, there is no she wolf in the world who is more beautiful than you are.’

Giving him a small smile, Elise kissed him back before settling down with a mumbled, ‘you are just biased.’

Blaze growled slightly, ‘everyone thinks you are beautiful, they are just to scared of me to tell you, and rightly so because I'd tear their heads off for even looking at you for too long.’

Patting his arm gently, Elise smiled, ‘I wouldn’t even notice if they were, I have this really sexy assed man that is constantly in my line of sight’ she teased.

Curling up around her pillows, Elise was soon asleep, her hand clasped possessively within Blaze’s grasp, his rhythmic breathing matching her own.

A pain suddenly disturbed the she wolf, groaning slightly, she opened her eyes to pitch black. Grumbling, she rubbed the sore spot on her stomach, as she tried to settle back to sleep. Minutes later, another pain cramped across her stomach making her grunt slightly.

Reaching for her phone, Elise illuminated the screen and scrolled to the timer, starting it going until another pain hit her. Stopping it, she checked the numbers, five minutes. Waiting again, she started the timer again from the next pain, starting and stopping as she timed the contractions.

Pulling the covers off of her, she slowly wriggled her way around until she could stand up, carefully removing her hand from Blaze’s who frowned in his sleep.

Waddling to the bathroom, she used the facilities, before getting dressed, breathing through the pains until she was ready to go.

Sitting back on the bed, the she wolf gently shook the warrior by the shoulder, ‘Blaze? it’s time to go’ she murmured softly.

‘No princess, its still night time, we don’t need to get up yet’ Blaze mumbled back, his eyes still closed.

Giggling she shook him again as she whispered, ‘your baby doesn’t care, he wants to come out.’

‘He still cooking baby, two more weeks’ the warrior replied sleepily.

Standing up, Elise shrugged as she said louder, ‘OK sexy, you sleep, I'm going to go and have a baby, I'll see you later.’

‘OK Princess’ Blaze muttered tiredly, laying there for a moment before his eyes snapped open and he stared at his fully dressed mate who was looking down at him with amusement.

‘Say what now?’ he asked worriedly.

‘I’m going to go and give birth to a baby’ Elise replied slowly, grimacing slightly as another contraction hit her, ‘you stay here though, I'm sure one of the nurses will hold my hand through it.’

Scrambling out of bed, Blaze raced over to Elise, taking her arm as he looked around the room panicked, ‘we need to go Princess, should I carry you? Will you make it?’ he rambled as he hurried toward the door almost dragging the she wolf by the arm.

‘Blaze!’ Elise called out, grounding the warrior, ‘Calm down, we have ages yet, I need some shoes, you need to get dressed and we need my hospital bag’ she said laughing.

Rubbing his flustered face, Blaze nodded distractedly as he helped her back to the bed, taking a calming breath, he disappeared into the bathroom, before hurrying into the closet to throw clothes on. Reappearing, he had some black canvas slip ons, sinking down to the floor, he carefully placed them on Elise’s feet who smiled down at him as she said ‘I cannot wait to see my feet again!’

Blaze finally relaxed as he laughed, ‘i can’t wait to see our baby’ he said as he stood up and placed a kiss on her lips before stepping back, ‘are you ready princess?’ he asked, his eyes dancing with excitement.

Elise nodded as she held out her hands so he could help her stand up, holding her tightly, Blaze opened the door and grabbed her hospital bag with his free hand, then leading her out on to the landing.

‘We better mind link the Alpha and my Brother’ Elise said with a smile, ‘Lily will murder you if she wakes up to find the baby is here.’

Paling slightly, Blaze stopped as his eyes glazed momentarily, his eyes clearing again, he gave a curt nod. ‘I woke her up, after she threatened to cut off my balls for disturbing her she said she will meet us at the clinic after she goes and wakes up Brandon.’

Elise shook her head with a grin, ‘lets go have a baby’ she said softly, Blaze looking over at her adoringly as he encircled her waist with his strong arm and helped her down the steps and out of the pack house door, the night guards shouting out good luck as they passed them.

Reaching the clinic, the pair were greeted by the doctor who was already awaiting them, ‘welcome Beta, female Beta’ he said jovially, ‘the Alpha informs me that our pack is ready to gain a new member, shall we get you settled in a room?’

Nodding happily, Elise and Blaze followed the doctor down the corridor toward the small maternity ward.
