Elliot barely hesitated. “We promised Batoor Khan our help, and by God, we’ll keep our word. Colonel Windrush, take two mountain guns, three companies of the Royals and three of the 113th. Advance up this valley and destroy anything that fights back.”
“Yes, sir,” Jack said. “I’ll take Number One, Two and Three companies of each regiment.”
“Major Burridge, you will bring the rest of the 113th with me. Major Baxter, you will command the remainder of the Royals and also accompany me. Colonel Sinclair, I’ll need you and all your Sikhs.” Elliot looked around. “I’m taking all the Guides and the remaining four screw guns. We’ll force march to Torkrud.”
“We might not get there in time,” Baxter warned.
“Then we must waste not a minute,” Elliot said. “Windrush, organise your men.”
