Kylie placed her hand on Brandon's shoulder. "Are you ok?" she asked leaning forward next to his ear.
Brandon's eyes shifted to her, she could see the anger radiating off of him.
"Talk to me," she said worry clear on her face.
"I can't believe he just did that," Brandon mumbled out.
"Calm down," Kylie said running her fingers over Brandon.
Jason came from behind and took Kylie's hand, "Is he going to be ok?"
"I think he just needs some time to process," Griffin said coming from the other side.
"That's why we wanted your packs mating tradition to stop," Jason said annoyed.
"We?" Griffin asked.
"The Alpha council," Chance said also joining the mates.
"What exactly were these people expecting?" Kylie asked looking at her Brandon and then to her father.
"You told your father you were breaking the tradition?" Chance asked looking at Brandon.
He nodded, "He was very angry when I told him."
"What were they expecting?" Kylie asked again, her eyes turning to Jason.
"You two mated in private," Jason said pulling her into his embrace.
"Of course," Kylie said nodding.
"The ceremony was stalled, awaiting your mating." Chance continued.
"We needed to remain on a timeline of sorts," Kylie answered, still not understanding.
"Normally there is no break in between the two ceremonies," Jason said still watching her face.
"So they mate after the marking ceremony?" Kylie asked.
Chance and Jason both looked at each other and then Brandon's voice finished, "After the wedding, the bride is stripped in front of the pack, mated, her virginity verified, marked, and only then does the couple obtain their titles."
"You can not be serious," Kylie said staring at him.
"I told my father that our tradition was finished, that my destined mate would only produce female heirs and my pups would never submit to such a thing. I also told him that I would never allow my mate to participate. He did not agree with me."
"Why didn't you tell me?" Kylie asked confused.
"I never thought he would stoop so low as to pull that," Brandon said annoyed. "He knew you were not going to pass the virgin portion, it makes the rest unnecessary."
"Why were the guards approaching us?" Kylie said feeling sick to her stomach.
"They thought they were going to strip you," Brandon said looking down. "It's what happened to my mother."
"That sick f*ck!" Kylie said and the glasses nearby shattered.
"Calm down," Jason said running his hands over her to make her relax. "We never would have let that happen."
