Ezmerelda
I stayed hidden in the storage room taking an inventory of what we had and needed to order. I can hear Axel and the other biker talking, although with the door closed, it comes out muffled. I quietly opened the door a little and listened in on their conversation.
" I'm sorry bro, I didn't know you were down here with a chick." I heard something what had sounded like someone being thrown up against the wall.
" She's not just a chick, Jax. I dunno there's something about her that's different." I heard a soft laugh. " You know whose daughter she is, right? Big Mike will have your head if you try anything on her, not to mention, Sandra will kill you if you make a move." I heard them heading up the stairs and slowly moved out of the room, still listening. " I have never felt like this, brother. I'm in serious trouble." I smiled at his words but then shook my head. I can't get caught up in his world. Mom would hate me.
I finished with the inventory and headed back upstairs, walking past the billiards table that was occupied by some girls from my sister's club, Liberty Sister-hood. As I was walking past, someone grabbed my arm and I stopped. A tall, pretty, red-haired, green-eyed girl looked at me. " He's into you. I have never seen him act this way before and I've known Axel for a long time, kinda like a brother."
I looked back at her and shook my head. " I don't want to get involved with anyone from that world. I lost someone very dear to me and that world is just a constant reminder of that." She stepped back and then made her shot before looking back up at me. " Still, that won't stop our Don Juan from his pursuit. Trust me, he won't stop until he gets what he wants."
I looked away. I don't want them to see my reaction. So it seems that he is interested in only one thing. Well, biker boy, I will not succumb to you no matter what you pull. I thanked her and walked up the stairs. The rest of the night, I avoided him. I told Sandra that I would work at the bar if she worked the tables and it seemed to be working. If only I had stayed back in Tallahasse, I really don't need this right now. Some bad boy biker decided that scoring the newest bartender would be a fun game, but I just couldn't let him get to me.
Once I got dad's business model in place, hired some extra help for Sandra, and revised the menu, dad's bar would be booming and I could go back home. I wouldn't have to deal with any of this. I could go back to my apartment, late night gatherings, and have happy-hour with my friends.
Just as I was wiping down the bar, I felt a presence behind me and someone wrapping their arms around me and kissing my neck. That's it. I'm going to punch him. I balled my fists and just as I was about to punch him, I felt a hand grab my arm to stop me. When I turned around, I came face to face with hazel eyes that peered down at me, mocking me. " Sapphire. I didn't know you were a bartender here." Alejandro Knight, Enrique's best friend and truth be told, my childhood crush and he was standing in front of me with his model-like features and boyish charm.
He looked me up and down, then winked. " Damn, baby, You're a bonafide hottie." He raked his eyes over me from head to toe, causing a blush to rise on my face, then leaned in to whisper in my ear. " I don't seem to be the only one in here to notice." He nodded towards a table in the back of the bar where the Blazing Kingsmen were sitting. I could see Axel glaring at him with a dark look. " Looks like King has set his eyes on you, too."
I rolled my eyes and grabbed a shot glass and tequila for him. " Yeah, well, he can set his eyes on another. I don't associate with his kind." Alejandro grabbed my hand and then he pulled me closer to him and stared into my eyes. " So what ' kind' do you associate with?" I grabbed the tequila. I knew it was his drink of choice. He and Enrique used to do shots to celebrate. I poured him a shot, then grabbed the salt shaker, and a lemon. I looked at him and rolled my eyes. He is such a playboy.
" Why? Are you applying for the position?" I laughed and was about to turn around when he grabbed my wrist and yanked me back to him. " What if I was? Is that position filled?" I shook my head and pulled my wrist away. " Given your past, Alejandro? "
Just then, I noticed I was running low on whiskey and headed back to the backroom where the extra alcohol was kept. As I walked by the Blazing Kingsmen table, Axel grabbed my arm and pulled me closer to him. He stared at me and I could tell something was bothering him, though I didn't understand why. " What kind of game are you playing at, Raven Beauty?"
I looked at him and raised my brow. " I have no idea what you are talking about." I removed his hand from my arm and continued. I turned into the room and felt a hand grab my waist and spin me around. " Care to explain then why you're flirting with another man?" Seriously? Like he has any right.
I met his eyes dead on and put my hand up to push him away. " Look, you can't tell me who I can and cannot talk to. You have no right. If I want to talk to another guy, I will. Now, if you don't mind, I am needed back at the bar." To my surprise, he loosened his grip and let me walk past carrying the extra bottles of whiskey and also some tequila and schnaps. As I was almost out the door, he stepped in front of me, looking me up and down. " Don't play with me, Raven Beauty. I always win and eventually I will get what I want." Just as I was about to reply, he turned on his heel and walked away. I stared at his back as I watched him walk past the bathroom and out of the bar's backdoor. Then I heard a motorcycle start up and driving away.
