Chapter 7

ONE of the things that Natalia loves about her fiancé is his ability to make her feel special despite their busy schedule.    He surprised her with a picnic lunch.  He pretended that they would be meeting a client in a nearby park.  When they reached a Greenfield clearing near a pond, under a big oak tree, she was delighted to see a picnic setup for the two of them.  An array of food was arranged on a navy blue blanket. There was a cold bucket with a bottle of champagne, two crystal goblets that shone in broad daylight.   Sebastian made sure that everything that was served is Talia’s favorite.  An assortment of cheese, vegetable salad, garlic pesto pasta and bagels were served.   “Hi baby, I have something for you.  Here...” When Talia looked at the folder he was showing her, she cried in glee. It was the accomplished forms and completed requirements needed for their wedding.    “Wow! It was that fast? Great! Then we can get married when?”   He looked amused and elated as he stared at her reaction.  She’s a breeze of fresh air in his chaotic and polluted life.   “Right now if you want.”  He looked serious and Talia just gaped at him.  She wants a church wedding but if Sebastian wants to get married in a city hall, she doesn’t give a damn, as long as she could call him hers, her husband, the location and date is not important.   “I want. Yes.  Anytime. I love you.”  Their staring contest was intense. She looked at him with so much admiration while he looked at her like he saw his life flashing right before him, with her beside him forever.   “Then, after we eat, let’s go to the city hall and get married.  But we will still proceed with the church wedding in three months time.”     “Oh my Gosh! Really? We’ll get married in a civil ceremony? Who will be our witnesses?” She’s too excited to see that he’s smirking as he looked at her.   “Yes. The driver and security staff will be our guests.  But, I will agree only if we go on a honeymoon later in...Paris?”   “You never seem to run out of ideas huh?” He shook his head.    “Anything for my queen. So? Vamos a comer? Let’s eat.” Talia felt herself blush when she heard him speak Spanish.   “You’re too sexy for your own good whenever you speak Spanish. Gracias.  Thank you. Why are you looking at me like that?” He smirked.  Sebastian intentionally speaks Spanish as it turns his fiancée on whenever he utters palabra de espanol or Spanish words.   “Por que mi futura esposa es muy hermosa y delicioso. Because my future wife is very beautiful and delicious.” She laughed at his words.   “Ah...I am delicious? Then why did you have to prepare all these food if I am the one that’s delicious?”  His eyes darkened with desire at her question.  She pinched his cheeks.  If they continue their teasing, they may end up not eating the prepared food at all.   “Ouch...why do you keep on pinching my cheeks? Is that your way of telling me I am cute?”  Talia laughed out loud at his silliness.   “Cute? You? Definitely not! You’re not even small.  How could you be cute?”  He pouted his lips and she kissed them.  She just couldn’t let the opportunity pass. “What am I then if I’m not cute?”  He teasingly asked.  She on the other hand will not back down on their charming discussion on his looks.   “You are so gorgeous that event straight men looks at you with admiration.  Girls swoon whenever they see you, especially me. Well, most definitely me...” She pretended to feel dizzy and he quickly pulled her close to him, with just a few inches between their faces.   “You are my number one fan?”  Talia smiled and so did he.   “Of course.  But I am the leader of all of your fans club.  All screening for membership will pass thru me. They need to secure all types of IDs and clearance before I could let them go near you.” His smile grew wider.  His perfectly sized and white teeth distracted her.   “Really now huh...what types of clearances will you require?”   “Police clearance, city and municipal clearance, tax bureau clearance...” He was still laughing about this response when she took one goblet and poured the sparkling wine and handed it to Sebastian.   “Here is to us and our family.”  She raised her own crystal goblet after she took something from her bag.  She flashed the thin film of paper and waited for his reaction.   It was epic, the way he looked at her with adulation and love was overwhelming.  He looked equally happy.    “I’m going to be a father?” With tears in her eyes, she nodded. She wanted to wait for them to get married first before telling him about their baby.  It would have been her wedding present.   “Yes my love.  We are going to be parents.”   “I love you so much! You made me so happy... Thank you baby, for coming into my life.” He kissed Talia with so much passion she almost forgot to breathe.   “My love, we can’t breathe.” He immediately looked at her tummy and caressed it.  Looking all worried for the little bundle of joy inside her womb.   “Sorry my baby.”   “Let’s eat now.” He nodded and proceeded to feed her.  She will surely be pampered more than usual now that she’s pregnant.    “Mi amor, are you that hungry?” She noticed that he started eating two more slices of bagels with cheese.   “Yes baby.  I still feel hungry even after eating the pasta. And now I am feeling awfully sleepy.”    “Maybe because you shared my pasta.  It is a myth that whenever someone shares food with a pregnant woman, the dizzy spell, sleepiness and everything that a future mother encounters will be transferred to the other person.”   “Wow. De Verdad!? Really? Is this true?”   “I don’t have proof but looking at you and seeing you now, makes me want to think otherwise.     He looked too cute so she took her cellphone and flashed multiple photos of him.  It would be added to her collection of everything that is Sebastian, her future husband and father of her child.
