Skyler's eyes darkened. When Piper looked at him, it was as if he was the person she cared about the most in the world. Skyler was sure that he would win. He knew that Piper loved him so much that she couldn't extricate herself from it. Otherwise, she wouldn't have agreed to be with him on that agreement in the first place.
He bent down and said. "Did you drink?"
In fact, it was the smell of alcohol on him.
When Piper smelled his scent and thought of what he said about being busy with work, she couldn't help but feel sad.
"I drank a little." Piper didn't deny it. Her cheeks were slightly flushed, and her arms around Skyler tightened slightly.
Skyler glanced at her in surprise. Piper had always been shy in this aspect, and this was the first time she had taken the initiative.
When she was carried to the bedroom, it was exactly past twelve o'clock.
Only then did Piper remember that eleven months had passed since she married Skyler.
It was almost over.
Piper woke up with her back and waist painful.
Skyler had already gotten up. Even if he had tossed until midnight last night, he could still go to the company in spirits the next day. Piper sometimes wondered if he were a robot and how he could be so dedicated to his work every day.
As the president of the Shaw Group, he had to go to work regularly every day. People would laugh at him if they knew about this.
Skyler was putting on a watch. When he lowered his head, his Adam's apple bobbed slightly, and for some reason, he felt a little restrained. Piper's heart couldn't help beating faster. She loved Skyler so much probably because of his appearance.
At the New Year's party in high school, Piper was photographed. Piper had hidden the photo for many years. Even though the picture was so blurry, it still couldn't hide the fact that Skyler had excellent facial features and a perfect appearance.
"You're awake?" Skyler heard the noise and saw through the mirror that Piper had already sat up. No one knew what she was thinking about.
It was warm in the room, so Piper was only wearing silk pajamas. Her hair was scattered on her shoulders, and her eyes were a little blurred. She looked like she hadn't woken up yet. The thin quilt was half-closed, and the sunlight came in from the window and jumped on her white shoulders, making her look like a beauty in an ink painting.
Piper nodded obediently. She got off the bed barefoot and stepped on the ground. She picked up the tie next to her, walked up to Skyler, and helped him tie it.
Piper was shorter than Skyler by half a head, so she needed to step on her toes. From Skyler's angle, he could see that her curly eyelashes were trembling slightly. Her slender white fingers bypassed the tie and inadvertently rubbed against the warm skin on the side of his neck.
Piper smiled and said in a soft voice, "Okay, honey."
Since they got married, Skyler had heard her call him "honey" the most often.
At first, he was not used to it, but after listening to it for a long time, he felt that it was not as unpleasant as he had imagined.
"Then I'll go cook." Seeing that Skyler didn't speak, Piper distanced herself from him and turned to walk out of the door.
Skyler didn't like to have outsiders at home, so Piper had to learn to cook since she married him in order to take care of his taste. Her fingers had been scalded several times, but Skyler knew nothing about it. He only thought that she used to know how to cook.
When Skyler went downstairs to the living room, Piper had already prepared breakfast.
Piper had slowly stewed the porridge the previous night. Skyler he could not eat too greasy in the morning. She scooped up a spoon of porridge and put it into her mouth. She carefully observed Skyler from the corner of her eye. When she saw that he had swallowed the porridge, his brows relaxed, and she breathed a sigh of relief.
"It tastes good," Skyler praised.
"It's good that you like it." Piper stirred the porridge in her bowl. For some reason, she suddenly remembered what Piper's mom had said last night.
"Are you really not going to dance in the future?"
Did she really not want to dance?
In the past, when others asked her, Piper could easily say "no", but what Piper's mother asked last night was like a stone suddenly thrown into the calm lake, causing ripples.
Skyler didn't like her to show up in public. When they got married, he said to her, "The Shaw family can afford to give you a good life. Since we are both for the sake of interests, I don't want you to cause any rumors to embarrass the Shaw family. No matter what you used to do, I hope you can focus on being Mrs. Shaw."
His words were harsh. It was obvious that he wanted to keep her like a vase. But at that time, Piper clenched her fists slightly on her knees, and her expression did not change at all. "I'll listen to you."
Skyler didn't like her to be obedient, and Piper wasn't the perfect wife candidate in his heart. Piper had already forgotten what expression Skyler had when he heard this. She only knew that she had offended him somehow and he left.
For some reason, Piper wanted to share her thoughts with Skyler.
"Last night..."
Skyler suddenly heard his phone ring. He made a gesture to Piper, indicating that she should not speak. From her angle, she could see that the caller was Marina Newman.
