1037 Words
"Thank you once again, Auntie. It means a lot to me. I hope you all know that you'll always have a place in my heart. I will never forget you all even though we're far away from each other." Elisia spoke again, as tears finally fell down from her cheeks. "God Bless you, dear. Don't forget to call us every now and then, okay?" the old woman said "I will call you everyday, Auntie. I promise." Elisia reassures the old woman. A few more words were exchanged between Elisia and her neighbors, and after taking one last look around the place she once called home, she started taking steps towards the rented old jeepney that has been waiting for her. It was a bittersweet moment for her, but she was ready to embark on a new chapter in her life, one filled with hope and the knowledge that she still had friends in the community who cared for her. As the old vehicle started to drive away for a one-and-a-half hour drive to the big city where there's a bus terminal, Elisia started waving goodbye to the people who treated her and her mother as part of their family for so many year... And once the people are out of sight, Elisia finally heads off into the world, and she is going to face her future alone. Although she may be alone physically, she is not alone in spirit. She knows that her mother is with her everyday, watching over her. And she is absolutely sure that her mother is so proud of her for being strong and brave just like what she wants her to be... ================================== After six hours of travelling by bus, Elisia finally reached the capital city of Northwood , and she is now standing in front of a gated residence. As Elisia stands in front of the tall, imposing gate, she takes a deep breath and tries to calm her nerves. Her hands are trembling, and her heart is racing with anticipation. She is about to embark on a journey that she's going to physically face alone. She wondered what could be behind this mysterious, tall gate. Elisia checks the letter in her hand once again, making sure that she has the right address. The letter is worn and wrinkled, but the address is legible enough to read. The address engraved on the gate matches perfectly, and Elisia is filled with a sense of excitement and dread at the same time. "Well, this is it, Mama. I hope everything goes well just like you hoped." she whispered, as she raised her hand to press the doorbell button. Despite her fear, Elisia knows that she needs to be brave and follow her mother's last request before she breathes her last breath. Someone opened the door and he saw a strict-looking and intimidating security guard. "Yes, how can I help you?" the man inquired, with a serious look on his face. Elisia swallowed an imaginary lump on her throat, as she tries to hide his nervousness... "Good afternoon, sir. My name is Elisia Wilson, and I would like to talk to Mrs. Clara Montana, please." she tried her best to answer. "Do you have an appointment with our Madame?" the security man asked again. "Well, I'm afraid that I didn't set up an appointment with Mrs. Montana, but if you could please give this to the Madame, I would really appreciate it, Sir." Elisia begged the security guard. She gave him an envelope, and there was something inside of it. There was a letter written by her mother on her deathbed, and also a photo. "Very well. Please wait here for a minute." the security guard instructed, then afterwards, he closed the small part of the gate again. As Elisia stood in front of the imposing gate, her heart startled pounding in her chest. She had never met the mysterious Mrs. Clara Montana, but she had heard her name mentioned on the television because she is the wife of one of the richest men in the country, who owns a first-class airline company. She has been wondering how her mother is connected with a very rich woman just like Mrs. Armani... Elisia suddenly snaps out from her reverie when she sees the gate open again, and the security guard is back again. "Please come in. The Madame will see you now." the security personnel informed her. "Thank you, Sir." Elisia nodded in return. With her heart still racing, she took another deep breath before taking a step forward to follow the security man. She was surprised to see a certain middle-aged woman who looked so beautiful, and she was staring back at her as tears started to well up from her eyes. There was no doubt that she was standing face-to-face with Mrs. Clara Montana. "Oh my goodness! Are you really Marielle's daughter?" the woman's voice trembled. "Y-Yes, Ma'am. My mother asked me to meet you." Elisia spoke, while looking a bit hesitant. Here she is, talking to a total stranger, who is crying in front of her. Then, without any word, Mrs.Montana suddenly went towards her, and gave her a warm and gentle hug. "You look exactly like your mother when she was younger." the old woman spoke again. Elisia didn't say anything, feeling a bit overwhelmed by the old woman's emotions. She doesn't know what to say, nor does she know what to do because she really doesn't have any idea who this woman is, and what her relationship is with her mother. Mrs. Montana is still crying while hugging Elisia tightly, holding on to her as if she was scared of losing her. Elisia wasn't sure what to make of it all, but she could sense that these emotions were deeply personal to Mrs. Montana and that she was carrying a lot of heartache and grief. After a few minutes, Mrs. Montana finally stopped crying and took a deep breath. "I'm sorry, I just get so emotional sometimes." she said, wiping her eyes. Elisia lets out a tentative smile towards the woman. "It's okay." she said, almost in a whisper. She is actually touched by Mrs.Montana remembering her mother this way...
