Chapter 3-1

2024 Words

When he wakes up, the smell of a horse’s sweat is in his nose. He is hanging over the rump of a horse, moving at a slow gallop. The ground is moving past him. He shakes his head once, and the cloak of an Arab flutters over his head. He peeks back and sees the battlements of Fort Laval. He peeks forward again and sees the dunes where the Dulacs are gathered are not far ahead. The Dulacs who captured him got away from the dangerous firing of the legionnaires on the battlements. They did not even bother to tie him up or anything. Apparently, they just slung him over the back of a horse and took him away.” Teuns does not notice other riders on this side of this horse over which rump he is hanging, but he does hear the movement of other horses. They have to be on the other side of this horse.
