For three days Sita had been striving to avoid Wilfrid Blunt and had been successful, but now unexpectedly she found herself sitting next to him at luncheon.
It was being given for a Politician who was passing through Hyderabad and Sita had felt apprehensive when she had sat down to find Wilfrid Blunt beside her.
She had known that he was delighted and she was aware intuitively that he had been feeling frustrated and irritated at not being able to get her alone as he had tried to do every day since the drama of the Nizam’s visit.
Now there was that complacent look on his face that always annoyed her as he said,
“For once you cannot run away and you have to listen to me.”
