"Oh look at my beautiful granddaughter. You look more and more like my mom everyday, Brookie..." I gave my grandmother a smile while shaking my head.
She told me that everytime she seen me.
I gave her a hug and adjusted Tyler on my hip. "I brought somebody to see you grammy!" Her face lit up as she took him from me.
Although I did have to say, I did look like my great grandma, all but her eyes though. Her eyes were a deep blue and mine were lime my dad's. His dark brown color. But I did not have his hair, I had my great grandmas sandy brown hair.
She looked up and past me. "You must be Scott." She smiled at him, the wrinkles on her beautiful face only showed how much she smiled and how happy her life has been. "Clara, has told me so much about you."
I take it mom has told everybody about him long before telling me.
"What else have they told you?" She looked from Scott to me. "Nothing sweetheart. Why what's going on?" She seemed worried, I didn't mean to worry her by my question.
"Let's go inside and I'll tell you everything." We all walked into the small home that she raised my dad in.
We went into her kitchen where she had a small play area for Tyler. "Have you ate? You don't look like you've been eating!" She asked after placing Tyler down. "Yes ma'am.
"And where is that husband of yours?" The way she said husband made me shift on my feet and look fown at my stomach. "I left him." I said quietly.
"What do you mean you 'left him'?" I didn't want to look up at her, she has always supported mine and Ryan's marrage, but if I told her why I left him she might want to kill the man.
"I mean, I asked for a divorce and...I rejected him." I said the last part so low I was sure she didn't hear it.
"What? Why would you do that? The Moon Goddess don't make mistakes like that, Brooklyn!" I guess she did hear it. I came here to tell her I was pregnant not to hear her boost up my horrible marrage and whole pairing with Ryan because neither was a walk in the park, more like a walk through hell itself.
I sighed deeply and walked over and picked up Tyler, I heard my grandma gasp loudly so I turned around quickly to see what was wrong.
She came over to me and tur ed me back around and lifted up my shirt. s**t, she must have seen them when I bent over to grab Tyler from the playpen.
I kissed my nephews head as her fingertips ran over the many bruises that I knew was there, they haunted me every day I seen them. "Does your dad know about this?" She whispered.
"Yes, I'm not sure if you are gonna like Ryan when I tell you why they are there." I told her softly and turned back to face her.
"I know what those are, you don't have to explain anything to me." She moved and sat down at her small kitchen table. "Those look worse than Abby's did." She muttered to herself, her head popped up
"How long has it been going on?" I looked away from her, I have hid this for so long how can I explain to her it's been going on over 3 years.
"He never cheated on me before we got married. It started after." I whispered just as Tyler started pulling on my hair. I smiled down at him and carefully took the strand from his hand and pushed it behind my shoulder.
"Why didn't you tell anybody when it started?" I shrugged my shoulders. "Because at first I acted on it. But he didn't like that I am as headstrong as I am."
"What did he do?" She asked. "Nothing to harshly..." His real punishment for me was cheating on me throughout the whole week, but that night he tried to choke me but when his Wolf stopped him, he locked me in the basement of our home and he did it on our bed while I stayed down there suffering.
She went to ask something else but I looked back at her. "Please don't ask anymore questions. I came here to tell you some good news." I gave her a smile and she closed her mouth.
"I am pregnant grammy." Her eyes watered a little bit. "I haven't told, Ryan yet. So until I do could you not tell him?" Her head bobbed in agreement with me. "What is it?"
"Well I thought it was a boy, but according to mom it's a girl. I have to ask the doctor to make sure at my next visit." I told her running my hand gently through Tyler's soft curly hair.
"Well now that all of that's out in the open, I want to know everything." She suddenly stood up. "How much longer do you have and where will you be staying since I'm sure you don't really want to live with, Ryan."
"Actually I've been staying with Bailey for the past couple months." I scratched the back of my head, I knew my parents and cousins knew about this but I also thought she did too.
My cousin Hannah offered for me to stay with her but when I found out I was pregnant I decided to ask Baliey, Even my uncle Brandon asked me to come and stay with him when Danielle let it slip I was selling my home. I'm just glad she didn't tell him why I was selling it.
"I had a room here, Brooke. You could have asked me." I knew that but I didn't want to worry her or keep her awake with the constant crying or pain I'd felt.
Bailey and Evan found a way to soundproof my bedroom with my brothers help because I hated them always coming in, in the middle of the night when they had Tyler to deal with everyday.
"I love you, but I'm looking for a place to stay now. Mom said it needed to be close to them and allowed security cameras." I explained my mother's request for me to move out of Bailey and Evan's.
"Nonsense, I live right down the road from them. You can stay with me, I also have a guest room for the baby." I laughed at her need to want me closer to her.
"Unless you have a room I don't know about, but he needs to be with me at all times." I pointed at Scoot who had been on his phone the whole time, but I could tell he was listening to everything we was saying.
My grandmother turned to look at him then back at me. "Well now I see why your mom wants you to find a place to yourself."
The way she said it seemed to have an underlined meaning to it and my cheeks decided to flush a shade of pink. "It's not like that, grammy." I took a quick look over at Scott and he was wearing a faint smirk on his face.
"Come here, let's get on the internet and see what we can find close by." My grandma laughed lightly grabbing my arm and leading me over to her laptop.
And for the next 3 hours we sat there going through different websites and ads around the town we lived in. There were 2 very nice options that we had found.
One was an apartment building that had a guard at the entrance that only allowed the residents in the buildong, visitors had to be buzzed in by the person they wanted to visit. The only issue was that the only available apartment open was on the 3rd floor, I don't like small spaces so the elevator to go up would bother me, thats why I hated going to see Ryan.
The second one was a single story house for rent 4 bed and 3 1/2 bath. Good thing about this one was that it was only a couple houses down from my uncle Chase and aunt Jessica.
Problem was the money, I know I had savings in my account, but I shared that account with Ryan. But the money in the savings was nine, it was all of my money from my job as a teacher and me selling my home.
"I need to call my bank, I also need to create a new bank account someplace else so Ryan can't try and take what is rightfully mine." He was the son of a very rich man, the Dale family was pretty much millionaires, in the werewolf and human world.
My phone rang just as we stepped outside to leave, I gave my grandma a kiss on her cheek and took Tyler from her, I pulled my phone from my jacket pocket and internally groaned.
"Hello?" I answered with a light huff. I went over to Scott's vehicle and went to open up the back door to place Tyler in his seat but Scott took him from me.
I narrowed my eyes at him but I was secretly grateful for the help. "Uhhh, Brooke it's Ryan." I chuckled softly "I know who it is."
"I wanted to warn you before you felt it." He whispered. I knew exactly what he was talking about, but I was a little shocked by him calling me though. "Why are you telling me about it?"
He sighed deeply. "Yesterday, after the dust settled with our rejection. I remembered how bad you looked, why didn't you tell me how much this was affecting you?"
"Careful, you almost sound concerned about me, Ryan." I rolled my eyes, I knew this act, he would pretnd to be concerned about me to get me to do something for him.
"I am." I let out a dry laugh. "No you aren't. Why did you really call me?" I asked him going through my purse for my pills.
I heard him growl. "Fine, I called to see if that guy that ive seen you with was your new boyfriend." Is he serious? I haven't even known Scott but for a couple days.
"Why are you jealous?" I groaned when I realized I left both bottles at home. One was in my car and the other in the bathroom. "Let's go home and get something to eat amoureux." My eyes traveled to Scott who was wearing another smirk, I swear those smirks lived on his face.
"Seriously? And you left me because of what I've been doing, and you are doing the exact samething." I rolled my eyes again at Ryan's assumptions.
"First off, you would've felt it if I'd done anything with someone while we were together. And second we aren't mates anymore, you have also been given the divorce papers so the sooner I go back to my maiden name the better off I'll be." I hung up the phone and threw it in my bag annoyed at him now.
I rubbed my temples feeling a headache coming on now. f*****g bastard.
I snapped my eyes open when I felt a nudge on my arm, I looked down to see Scott's hand held out. I smiled to myself and slowly took his hand, he even intertwined our fingers.
"You can make him really jealous if you would give it a try." He said, his voice wasn't usually deep but it was when he said that.
"How?" I asked him.
"By sleeping with somebody!"
