Kayla
========
Kayla can’t help the way she gapes at the Alpha before her.
She’s never felt so small she notices.
She’s never been big, but never thought she was tiny.
Standing there in front of this mammoth of a man, however, Kayla notices an odd comfort to it. She doesn’t feel threatened or strange. She doesn't feel the need to remove herself or run and it isn’t because of what she's equipped with. It’s simply standing here in his space.
It’s been long enough, she thinks, while she stands there in the warmth she’s sure is all him before asking his name.
She can’t quite get over just how large he is.
Her Omega can’t decide if she likes the idea of her closeness to the man or if she should back off completely, that is, until Kayla caught a whiff of his scent.
Kayla couldn't help the way her eyes fluttered shut or the way she slightly swayed before him before she cracked her gum in response. It startled her enough to take a step back so that she could really look into his eyes and ask him for his name.
“Ben. I’m Ben,” he replies, then does his best to hold his breath.
The sight of this makes her cringe.
Maybe he was a different sort of Alpha. Maybe he was married, Mated, the whole lot, she cringed at herself for even allowing this. And yet, his scent seemed to murmur something subtle, something different, but time was ticking and this was enough now.
“Good to meet you. I’m sorry to have to inform you that Pedro isn’t well, so I’m going to take you,” she says as she grabs the keys to her truck, smirking at the amusing words her brain chose.
He must have recognized her scent for him had changed, scents and scenting was funny like that. They’d change on a dime like a mood ring but their silence could be deadly or heavenly which is more than she wanted to explore right now.
Ben’s scent was warm and inviting like the holiday shows Roxi liked. It was like a bonfire, warm and radiating heat. It called out to her like protection, shelter, and above all want.
It made her sway just slightly, dust from just a possibility.
Alpha smells good, her Omega purred.
Kayla feels as though she’s melting all at once. Her body’s never been so relaxed. She’s never been so comfortable. Her Omega’s never been so welcoming and then she can feel it, the prickling ticking off at every nerve ending in her body.
At first it’s slight, a warning, building at the base of her spine. Drag after drag of his scent she can’t pinpoint just what it is but there are notes she wants to study until it’s thick on her tongue. The most noticeable is the inclusion of leather and it’s not even on him, the thought of which should register as his seats being leather but something about it makes her mouth go dry and her core clench wildly around nothing. Fresh slick is building at her entrance, daring her to be parted in some way, preferably by his hand.
Kayla’s face flushed at the thought and had done her best to hide her sudden build in interest before he could smell her.
This is not the time for this, she growled in her head.
Oh this is the perfect time for this, her Omega gushed and then instinctively drained her core, letting the extra large Alpha in front of her know of her dilemma before she could even speak.
Her body presented itself to him. Her n*****s tightened underneath her coveralls and aches to be touched, and while her Omega spoke up, she couldn’t feel anymore uncomfortable. Kayla knew, even if her response was new.
Her Heat is early, she groans inwardly. It’s never happened before, not based on a random Alpha, other scents pushed her over but it usually was a promise of a certain type of food.
Kayla gritted her teeth, willing herself to push forward while her Omega cursed profoundly, pushing her to take even though he hadn’t vocalized an offer. She, however, wouldn’t have it. Kayla could control herself. She could. Not that she’s had to.
She growled under her breath, then began with the very obvious truth, “Listen. I’m going into heat,” Kayla said abruptly watching the way his eyes seemed to widen in shock. “If you think you can’t handle yourself, stay here and I’ll get your car by myself. Just tell me where it is,” Kayla pressed as she moved out of the lobby towards her truck.
Fresh air quickly filled her lungs excusing the high she’d been dealing with in his presence, which was both welcome and not, thanks to the way her Omega fought with her on the way out. It felt like all she knew was her biology, the further she got away from him, the more she felt torn. Honestly speaking, her Omega needed to quiet down and let Kayla just do her damn job without imagining the strange new man, Ben, to cover and take her; no questions asked. Her potential of being thrown through a fantasy while on the way to his extraction point was too great, and that too could cause a disaster for her, ruining her disasterless streak.
Her Omega growled at her insanity, whispering horrible things about her being a terrible Omega, and how Alpha will not be pleased…
It was enough, honestly, and what was more was Kayla was just ready to call it quits before he showed up anyway. She listened to Ben’s heavy footsteps follow her and how he didn’t specifically sound like a drone or in a trance but hadn’t been casual about it either. They sounded loud as he approached her truck’s passenger side. While she couldn't exactly peg the man as being the killing type, she couldn’t exactly ignore the possibility of having to shoot him at close range for the way that his Alpha might snap. The thought isn’t as relieving as it should be, and so she does her best to halt his actions, keeping him from making it inside her truck altogether.
“You’re acting weird…” Kayla choked out as his scent flipped yet again.
Did she anger him?
If she did she can’t deal with the thought. In fact all thoughts temporarily stop her from them. Kalya does her best to pull her door open, flop down into her chair as heat flushes through her entire system, from her head to her toes.
I just need to get away from him, she thinks. He’s just too much. Too much Alpha.
Kayla finds just enough strength to slam her door shut, the noise of it’s force ricocheted loudly through the air, hitting all that it could before going silent again. Kayla winced at the noise she made, then leaned forward to start her engine. Upon doing so, her hand slipped off the metal head of her key and down to her side as yet another wave of heat damn well burns every cell in her body. It's hard to be sure, but she thinks Ben’s form moves like a predator around the truck until she can’t see much of him at all.
Nothing about this is good, she groaned at her now terrified Omega.
Alpha is not happy, she whined. Alpha is mad… what does he do when he’s mad?
Kayla thinks back to her gun, strapped firmly to her leg, the second time since this had even started, making her will her way into managing her own strength.
Alpha will not like that, she hissed. Do not anger Alpha!
Kayla willed her Omega to shut up so that she could focus.
“What if he’s a freak? I can't even see him anymore,” Kayla hissed back, leaning against the back of her seat as if she had shot herself. Her head lobbed back far enough to even check the rear view mirror. Her vision, under her long lashes, had been a watery one, making it hard to see nearly anything in the distance it provided.
Kayla breathed out a shuddered sigh, knowing full well her sense of safety was not what her Omega claimed it to be.
Moments ticked by which had felt like hours, her body nearly ready to convulse at the current state she’d left it in. Pooling heat not only radiated in her breasts and pelvis, but also screamed in her gland as well as her back thanks to the damned cloth seats that cradled her. Sweat began to bead and rain down her body, pummeling over the fine hair raised high on her prickling skin.
She was close.
So close.
Not even the memory of being ahead by three whole days was enough to reclaim her body. It couldn't be her Heat, she moaned a sad sound that was far different than the growl deep in her heart. The hope of stopping it, prolonging it, was gone.
All Kayla could do was wait now. Wait for the possibility of a passing Alpha to take her since the one who had triggered her tonight had very obviously gone missing. Or what if he’d knowingly started it? What if he was waiting to take her, waiting to force her… What if he--”
Kayla’s thoughts are ripped from her immediately the moment the passenger side door opens, the heavy thing whips to the right suddenly, and up stalks a smaller form. No scent follows it, but by the way it moves Kayla knows it’s angry too. She closes her eyes and whines internally about how moronically she’d gone about this night.
This… this is how I...
