“You’re just tired.”
Of you, Julien thought, but didn’t say so. He rolled away from Gabriel and sat up, searching the room for his small clothes.
“Are you leaving? Why not just rest a while and then I’m sure I’ll be able to raise your interest.”
“I don’t think so.” Julien stood up to pull on his drawers and then found his trousers. He turned to see Gabriel sitting up in bed.
“But I haven’t seen you all week.” Gabriel pursed his lips into a pretty pout. “I’ve been so lonely.”
“Lonely? Even at Mother Madge’s? I find that difficult to believe.”
Gabriel’s pout disappeared as his full lips narrowed. “How did you know I’ve been visiting Mother Madge’s?”
