"I'll take you there now." With that, Dr. Barry bid farewell to the OBGYN and led me straight to his office. He retrieved a simple pendant from his desk drawer. It was a lovely and intricately-carved jade pendant. He handed it to me and said, "The nurse found it under your mother's pillow." "I must've been too distracted when I was cleaning up. Thank you for keeping it for me." I gently caressed the pendant. It was a little lamb carving. I...had never seen this pendant. I walked out of the hospital, puzzled. Chilliness rained down on me. Oh, it was raining. I didn't bring an umbrella, so I turned to go back to the hospital lobby when my phone rang. It was Aidan. I answered the call. "How's the checkup?" He asked in greeting. I licked my dry lips. "Just done. Everything's fine."
