An hour later, Hank and Ernest the chef returned. All hands pitched in to help load food and drink on board. Andrew ordered the mooring ropes to be cast off and the Diamond pulled away from the dock before Ernest had stored one item of food. The fatigue of the crew from the cruise appeared to have evaporated, leaving the men refreshed and energetic. But Andrew wasn’t so certain his men felt as lively as they acted.
