The rest of the week after the Raynors left, I decided to give Chance even more space than before and hung out at a coffeehouse about a mile down the beachfront. I let him know where I was, if needed. He hadn’t said much to me since that dinner with his family, and I just left it alone. Since the cafe had free Wi-Fi, I was able to get some work done, and have my coffee obsession indulged. I know, I know, it’s hot out, but I still needed my caffeine like a true addict, no matter the weather. An hour later, I finished the story I was working on, and was now attempting to make headway in the fantasy piece that I’d begun my sophomore year in college. It was one hundred pages so far, with a complex plot and lots of characters, but I was taking my time with it, not wanting to rush. As I made
