Yesterday was fun. I'm going to drive a car again today. I shower and dress as fast as I can. Then I run to the door by the cars. I grab the keys for parking spot 1, then I go get some food. I forgot that. It's lunchtime. After I get done eating, I sneak out to the cars.
The car in spot 1 is a normal looking car. It's not long like the cars I've been in with the guards. It should be easy to drive. I climb in and remember how to start it. It starts right away. I jump up and down in my seat. I am so happy. I want to go down the road and come back. Nothing fancy. I need practice.
I put the red line on the D and take off slowly. I get to the road and focus on turning. But there's a big crash and the car gets jarred. I watch as a grumpy looking man gets out of another car and yells. I jump out and run back into the castle. He chases me the whole way. I panic, not knowing where to go. Maybe Alden is in his office. I have to try.
I run all the way up to his office with that man chasing me. I hear the guard at his door yelling into his office. I run in and Alden is coming for the door. I jump and he catches me. I wrap around him and hold on tight. He wraps his arms around me and freezes.
The man that was chasing me runs in, out of breath. "She hit my car."
Victor cracks up laughing. "With what?"
"Her car."
Victor laughs harder. "Woman, did you steal a car this time?"
I peek out at the man glaring at me, then I hide my eyes on Alden's neck again. He holds me up by my butt and rubs my back. "Are you hurt, sweetheart?" I shake my head.
Victor stands up, but he's laughing too hard to say anything.
Fomek nods. "We see who she runs to when she's scared. That's a start."
Victor wipes his eyes off. "We'll buy you a new car."
Fomek says, "That's not a good way to deal with that. But I guess it'll work."
Clark stands up, "Yea, let's go out with him and see what kind of car it is. We'll get him a new 1 and make sure the road is clear."
Alden sits on the couch with me once they leave. "You sure you're not hurt, baby?"
"I'm ok. He was mad and he chased me."
"Yea, cars are expensive. People tend to get mad about them. Where were you trying to go?"
"I wanted to practice. I was going to go down the road and back. Driving is fun. I need practice."
"No more driving unless I'm with you. I'll show you and once you get better, you'll be able to drive on your own. Is that a deal?"
I nod and relax against his chest. He is so warm. "I'm sorry I hurt the car."
"I'm not worried about a car. I only worry about you being hurt. Car accidents can hurt."
"Sir, there is a delivery driver here."
I sit straight up. "MY STUFF."
"ENTER."
A man walks in. "Where do you want the packages for Mayra delivered?"
"To the royal house. I'll come over there and open it." Alden pats my butt.
I jump up. Then I jump up and down. Then I run all the way home.
An hour later, there are empty boxes all over the entrance to the royal house. At least half of my stuff got delivered. By the time I get it all put away, it's time for dinner.
Kina comes in and yells, "YOU ARE NOT LEAVING THIS FOR ME TO CLEAN UP. GET OUT HERE AND FIX YOUR MESS."
"I'm hungry."
"NO. You are not getting out of it. You should have picked it up as you went. Instead, you threw everything everywhere. Now get out here and pick it up."
"But I'm hungry and tired. I hurt my finger." I hear the door shut. Maybe she left.
"GET OUT HERE NOW."
"I'M HUNGRY."
"GET OUT HERE AND PICK IT UP. THE WHOLE ENTRY IS A DISASTER. YOU ARE NOT LEAVING THIS FOR ME. NOW!"
I walk out and then throw myself on the ground and cry. "I'm too tired." There are boxes and packaging stuff everywhere. I don't want to pick it up.
"WELL YOU SHOULD HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT THAT BEFORE YOU MADE THE MESS. NOW START PICKING IT UP."
I smack the ground and cry harder.
"NOW OR I START THROWING STUFF AWAY."
"FINE." I sit up and give her a dirty look. Alden is standing behind her with his arms crossed. I give them both a dirty look. Assholes.
They leave and I wait 3 minutes. Then I open the door and tell the guard to summon a servant with my dinner. Then I sit at the table. She brings me some food and I tell her to clean the entrance. Then I take 1 bite. I'm more tired than hungry though. I shrug my shoulders and go to bed. It's 9 anyway.
I get up at 8 and take a shower with my new soaps. They smell amazing. I do my hair in soft curls. Then I put on a new dress. It's light pink and it's called a fairy dress. It's tight on top with tank top straps. The bottom flows to my ankles with a couple layers. Then I put on some white high heels and a pearl necklace. I feel pretty this way. I go out to the dining room and Alden is sitting there eating.
"Oh I got up early today." It's almost 9.
"What are you doing today?"
I plop down. Kind of upset he didn't tell me I'm pretty. "I don't know."
"If you go back to the carnival, take some guards with you."
"Ok."
"I'm going to class, and I'll be in the office all afternoon. I'll see you tonight." He turns around and walks out. Maybe he'll never notice me.
I eat a little bit and someone knocks on the door. I open it to my favorite person ever.
"Delivery for Mayra."
I jump up and down and slam the door open. "RIGHT HERE PLEASE."
"I'll be right back. There are quite a few boxes."
"OK."
Alden comes walking back in.
"Class canceled?"
"There can't be men in here with you alone. I got summoned back."
"I'm sorry. I could have had him put them in the hallway."
"It's fine. Let's talk while he brings them in."
We sit on the couch.
"I don't want to argue. I just want to say I'm sorry."
My eyes fill up with tears and I stare at the ground. I don't know what to say, but if I try to say anything I'll cry. Maybe the mating people made a mistake with us.
"I never thought I could be your mate. I was born a human. I was turned vampire 7 years ago. I'm going to vampire school. The whole school was invited to a ball here. Me, Victor, Clark, and Jenny got bored after a while. We ended up sneaking around the dungeons. Jenny's a magician. She did something so that anywhere touched by magic would glow. After that, I found a whole wall that was glowing so bright. I knocked it down with an orb. I figured gold or treasure would be behind it. Instead, I found you. I thought I had found the remains of someone. I had no idea it was you. But then the doctor and everyone said it was. I stayed with my friends to watch over you and make sure your brother didn't come back. I never thought you would be mine. I went to the werewolf village following some information about where to find Fane. We did find him but he got away. I still didn't think you'd be mine. I wished for it more than anything. You're amazing and beautiful. But you deserve so much more than a simple human. I was just the 1 who found you. I made a stupid decision while I was there. And I swear to you, I have had no other contact with her. It's you I want."
"Why were you acting king?"
"At first I tried not to. I was only here to watch over you. But they followed me around like I was the king. Eventually, my friends talked me into acting as king, so we could make some changes and help the people. I think we did well. We saved everyone we could and tried to make everyone's lives better. Then we started fixing up the castle because it was in horrible shape."
"How did your whole class get here?"
"That wasn't me. I was going to take the semester off. That way I could stay here alone and watch over you, but Emberlynna decided that I wasn't going to do that. Next thing I knew, I was signing orders to add classrooms. At least it's only 1 grade though. Could have been worse."
"Yea, I guess that's true."
"KEHLANI MAYRA, WHERE ARE YOU?"
I panic for a second and jump behind the couch. I peek around the corner and watch Kina walk by the sitting room door. "Shhh."
"YOU HAD THE SERVANTS CLEAN UP YOUR MESS AFTER I TOLD YOU TO PICK IT UP. WHERE ARE YOU?"
I peek around again and see her coming into the room.
"Haven't seen her. She ran out early this morning, Kina."
"You tell her, she had better not make a mess with those boxes."
"I'll let her know."
I wait for her to leave, then I climb back on the couch. "Sorry she's scary."
"I've noticed. How are you holding up?"
I shrug my shoulders. "Sometimes I wish I wasn't here."
"Why?"
"Everyone I know is gone. I have nobody. I miss them."
"You have me."
I scoot closer and lay my head on his shoulder. It's a nice thought, but he's only a stranger.
