26. Healing Has Begun

The orb hits my brother's statue right in the middle. It crashes over backwards and the concrete he was standing on breaks into pieces. There's rubble everywhere. I face my hands up again and collect 2 orbs. I combine them above my head.
"BACK UP FURTHER."
I let the wind build up speed around me. Then I slam the orb into the center of the concrete area. All the rubble goes flying out away from the middle.
Then we go back and stand in a big dirt circle with a whole in it.
Dracul smiles. "That was very sufficient."
I look down the hole. It's about 2 feet by 2 feet. Seems black down there. I grab a brain and toss it in. "WHAT'S DOWN THERE?" I lean over the hole and wait for an answer.
"A 20 foot drop."
"AAAAHHHH!" I fall in the hole. The damn answer came from behind me. I turn into a dragon and land.
Clark is standing beside me while I'm still trying to get my balance. "SHE'S ALRIGHT. DON'T JUMP IN UNLESS YOU CAN FLY. IT IS A SOLID 20-FOOT DROP STRAIGHT DOWN."
"SHE'S OK?"
"SHE'S FINE ALDEN, RELAX. AND SOMEONE SEND A LADDER."
"I'M FINE, LOVE. SEND FIRE. IT'S BLACK DOWN HERE."
"Ok."
We wait a few seconds in the pitch black. The only light in the place is coming from the hole 20 feet above us. The walls are dirt. I can see that much.
"INCOMING."
Clark pulls me back and a dragon lands. Dracul stands in front of us and hands a bag to Clark. Clark opens it and pulls stuff out. All of a sudden, we have a lot of light.
"Lanterns. They sent flashlights too. This is good." He gives us each a flashlight and a lantern.
There is a dirt hallway about 20 feet long. 4 broken pieces of wood are used as doors. 2 on each side of the hall. I take a step and Dracul grabs me. "Wait."
"What?"
"There could be traps. And check the ground. No other footprints. How is that possible?"
"Flight only?"
Clark nods. "Or it could have flooded, everything seems damp in here. It could have washed prints away."
Dracul seems to agree. "It is soggy in here. Be very careful moving forward." Him and Clark start down the hallway.
I follow behind them with my flashlight, checking the walls. It's a tunnel carved out of the dirt. The boys each go into 1 of the first 2 rooms. I peek in Clarks, but it smells moldy. I keep going. The 3rd room is a stairway. The 4th room has a table. 2 bodies are on it. "AAAAHHHHH!"
Dracul has me around the waist and into the hallway. "It's fine. We knew they were somewhere."
Alden runs down the hall and grabs me. I wrap around him and cry. "Got the ladder in."
"We're going to need the brains to dig a path out."
"Is Omar down here yet?"
"Yes, I'm right here. What do you need?"
Kane asks, "How do you want to get them out of here?"
"I need to figure out what's blocking magic. Then we do other things."
Victor asks, "What does it look like?"
"A magic blocker is usually a black box, but it can be any color or shape."
Victor rubs his eyes. "Well, that narrows it down."
Clark takes off. "I saw a black box in this room."
Everyone runs after him. Except Alden. He holds me and rocks back and forth.
"Yes, that's it. Thank you. Magic is back. Here's a door to their castle's medical area. Take everything there."
Alden goes for it and I point at the 3rd door. He opens it and sees the stairs. "WE HAVE STAIRS GOING SOMEWHERE." Dracul and Clark go that way. Everyone else is sending soggy stuff to the medical area.
Omar looks at Alden. "We're going to move them now. She needs to not be here. Use the door."
Next thing I know, we're in my castle's medical rooms. Fomek smiles at us, "What is going on?"
"Get blood ready. 2 people. The same state Mayra was in."
His eyebrows shoot up.
I shake my head. "I want to be Kehlani now."
"Ok baby. Kehlani you are." He kisses my head. "We're going to watch a movie."
"Enjoy that movie you 2. I'll let you know when I know anything."
"Thank you."
He carries me to the royal house. Then we lay on the couch. I snuggle into his chest, and he rubs my back lightly.
"You are being summoned to the medical area."
I open my eyes and Kina and her new friend are standing there. I throw my arms up and stretch.
Alden pats my butt. "We're up."
I stand up and stretch again. Then Alden gets up and fixes my clothes. "Perfect baby."
We go to the medical area holding hands.
Omar is sitting at the desk with Fomek. They smile at us.
"You 2 seem to be getting along better now. Come over here. Let's talk in my office."
We sit in his visitor's chairs. I am so damn nervous. I move over to his lap.
Omar comes in with Fomek and they sit down.
Alden wraps his arms around me. "I'm right here, baby."
I snuggle into him.
Fomek smiles. "The bodies of Former King and Queen Sarris were delivered to the medical area this afternoon. I took the lead. Dr. Omar was the 2nd doctor on site. It appears both Kennian and Lily were attacked from behind. Their skulls were crushed in the back. No additional injuries were found on either of them. However, the injuries sustained to the head would have rendered them unconscious immediately. We believe they were then led to a magic blocked area where their dragons were suppressed. Once they were placed in these locations, healing could not happen. Therefore, once removed from the magic free area, and given blood, healing has begun."
I jump up and fall straight down sobbing.
Alden grabs me and pulls me back up on his lap. "You're ok, baby. Let's try to listen."
"We are projecting another 3 months before they wake up. That's what it took you to heal and wake up. Yours is the only other case that's ever been documented. So, I don't have much of a study to go off of. I would suggest that you do not see them right now. They do not look like themselves and the more you see them, the worse it will be. Once they begin resembling themselves, we will introduce you slowly."
I nod so fast.
Omar nods. "I am new to your world. I don't know everything. However, when our people have health issues, we send them to the medical area on the ship. I don't know if it would make the healing any faster, but it wouldn't hurt to be away from where Fane could find them."
I jump up. "TO MY SHIP."
Alden pulls me back down. "That isn't a bad idea. We wouldn't have to keep them guarded as much. I don't think there's any chance Fane could get to them. But Dr. Fomek may be confused."
I smile. "We need a doctor on the ship anyway."
"That is a good idea, baby."
Fomek nods. "What ship?"
We all stare at him for a couple of minutes. Then I stand up. "We'll just show you."
Omar stands up. "We need to summon a door beside the shuttle. Then I can come back up here, and we can get them close to the shuttle that way. We'll load them up and go right up. We'll put sheets over them, so they're not visible."
"Good plan." Alden stands up and off we go.
