Victor picks a seat. "I'll bring back up the snake planet. Controls down here." The planet shows up over the table.
I motion for a set of controls. I fly my ship up to it.
"Put in the colored sections for the snakes please."
I shoot the planet with all my weapons. It blows apart into a million pieces.
Victor rubs his eyes. "Reset that please."
I hit it with a meteor, and it explodes everywhere again.
"Reset my planet."
I fly my ship in.
"Now you can see here... that her ship is coming again." Everyone cracks up laughing.
I shoot the torpedo's into the core of the planet through the tunnels. It blows apart.
"STOP BLOWING APART MY PLANET, WOMAN."
"I WAS TESTING TYE'S THEORY."
"FINE. RESET IT AGAIN."
Marcus explodes the sun in the center of its solar system.
Tye jumps up with his arms up. "I GOT THE SHIP OUT BEFORE IT EXPLODED THAT TIME."
"That's actually helpful."
"Yea it is." Alden and Victor go for paper.
"What speed did you send that out at Tye?" Tre is already writing stuff down.
"I sent it in hyperspace. Jumped right to hyperspace."
"Not the best idea, but it works."
I nod at Tre. "In that situation, it actually is the best idea though. Any added time to think, and you're going to lose the ship."
Victor writes faster. "And every single person on it." He hands the paper to Alden. "You should put that in the master code somehow. It would be the only way to save everyone. Call it Tye's Law or something. He's the 1 who figured it out."
"I'll get that. Thank you, Tye."
"Don't mention it." He sits back smiling.
Johen grabs a pen. "What exactly is it?"
Alden answers. "It's a failsafe. If a star explodes while you're in the solar system with it. The ship will jump into hyperspace immediately in a safe direction."
"What about your people that are on the planet?"
"They're already dead. You can not go back for them, and they can not be saved."
Victor nods. "And honestly, if a star is that unstable, nobody should be in that system. But sometimes s**t happens. The failsafe could still save thousands of people's lives that are on the ship. Including ours."
Thora shakes her head. "Why do you keep calling it a star? That was the sun that exploded."
Nadine sits up.
Alden and Victor stare at her like she's the stupidest person they've ever seen.
Tre looks at her. "A sun is a star, girls."
"Oh." They write it down.
I try hard not to laugh. I cough instead.
"Now I'm bringing my planet back, please stop blowing it up."
I bring my ship back to the planet and Victor glares at me. "I'm checking around the area. I will not..."
Tye comes flying in with their ship and slams into the moon. The moon shoots at the planet and hits it so hard it flies into the sun.
I laugh so hard I have to stand up. Then everyone cracks up laughing.
Marcus nods. "That's why we don't let you drive, Tye."
"Man, the brakes didn't work."
"We'll blame that 1 on faulty brakes. Bring up the horn nose people planet instead, you 2 can blow them apart for a while."
A different planet shows up.
Tre jumps up. "Show me their solar system." A sun shows up with 5 planets, it's the 3rd planet. "Thank you. Go back."
It goes back to the planet and here come me and Tye in separate ships. Then another ship comes in.
Marcus smiles. "I brought my own ship. He'll be blaming the brakes again."
I shoot a torpedo at the planet. It blows up before it gets there.
Alden writes fast. "They have shields or anti-missile technology."
I hit it with lasers and then the other 2 do. Thora rubs her eyes. "What are you doing?"
Tobias answers. "Lowering their shields, hopefully. Not like we can see it. Try another torpedo."
"I got it." Tye shoots. It blows up before it gets there again.
Suddenly, a bunch of little tiny spaceships lift off the planet. They are flying around us like annoying ass bugs shooting lasers at us.
"RELEASE THE KRAKEN." I laugh and try to release my little ships. War ships shoot out of my ship and go after the enemy.
"How'd you do that?" Marcus is staring at the keys in front of me.
"Release the war ships." They do it and now little ships are everywhere. There are thousands, but it seems like there are thousands of enemy ships too. It's pure chaos. We stare at it for a second.
"Oh s**t, I can drive a little ship." Johen chases after an enemy shooting lasers at it.
"Someone crashed into the moon." Nik laughs.
Tye nods. "Faulty brakes."
"Shoot the planet on the main ships, keep trying to lower their shields, guys." Marcus and Tye shoot it again.
I maneuver around to the other side.
Tye yells, "SHIELDS ARE DOWN."
"YOURS OR THEIRS?"
"THEIRS."
I stand up and scream, "IF YOU'RE DRIVING A LITTLE SHIP, GET YOUR ASSES BACK TO A BIG SHIP. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHICH ONE. IN 5 SECONDS HIT THEM WITH ALL THE TORPEDOS AND GET INTO HYPERSPACE."
Alden smiles at me, "5...4...3...2...1... Fire."
All the big ships shoot.
"Impact in 3..."
"HYPERSPACE NOW." Tye yells this time.
"2."
My ship is out of there.
"1." We watch the planet blow up and take out the remaining little ships.
"Did we live?"
Victor nods. "Hit zoom on your ship and drop out of hyperspace."
My ship is sitting in the middle of space by itself.
Johen rubs his eyes. "I got into someone's ship at the last second. I don't even know whose I'm on though."
"Doesn't matter if they all got out."
I laugh. "Yea, we can figure out where people belong and sort them out."
Victor comes over and does something to Marcus's controls. "Yep. All 3 got out. Did we lose any command?"
"No. Everyone here is accounted for."
"Anyone extra on my ship?"
"Collin."
"Don't worry sir, we'll get you home."
Victor nods. "After we get drunk. That was stressful."
Tye answers, "Yea, I need a drink too."
Tre laughs, "She screamed, release the kraken. I was wondering what the f**k was going on."
"Release the war ships. I got a little excited. Came out release the kraken."
Thora smiles at me, "You know, you could give him his dragon now. Then he would have it, and it wouldn't be so much of a risk to mark you. But I kind of agree with him, he's not a dragon and there's a dragon after him. It's a very high risk to have you marked."
"I thought I had to have her marked before I get the dragon?"
Nadine shakes her head. "Nope."
Nik shakes his head. "He would have to hold down a dragon that was trying to bite him. He's not going to be able to do that without a dragon."
"PSSH," Nadine rolls her eyes. "He sucks that dragon out, she isn't biting anything. There is no control. It feels that good. Dipak, Tre, Johen, and Mason got theirs before I could mark them. I think anyway."
Dipak nods. "Yea, I tried to hold her head down, but she didn't fight. It was no problem."
"Same for me. I had no issues when I got the dragon. If I remember right, she didn't even try to bite me."
Johen laughs, "I was biting on her when I was human. I could still hold her down."
Omar shakes his head. "That was so very, very stupid, Johen."
Victor scratches his head. "Why was a human biting a vampire?"
"If you make..."
Omar clears his throat.
"I'll tell you later. But it's fun. And I was still human because I wasn't an adult. They couldn't change me yet."
"Johen went from human teenager to adult dragon in like 10 minutes though."
He smiles. "I waited long enough."
Then lunch gets put down in front of us. I taste it then dig in. It's some kind of fish and it is good.
After lunch, we go to the royal boxes to watch the races. I sit on a couch by myself. After 1 race, Nadine and Tye get on the ledge and talk. It's so boring. But I make it through an hour of that while getting more and more bored. Then we watch another race. I want to see the horses. I don't understand racing. I snuggle up with Alden. He rubs my arm for 3 seconds, and I am out.
I wake up a couple of hours later getting my back rubbed. He's so warm. I'm sleeping on his chest. I breathe him in and open my eyes, we're back on the ship.
"I didn't mean to hurt you baby. I do want to mark you. I can't put you in that much risk. It would kill you if I died. I can't even think about that. I need you to live."
"What about you taking the dragon?"
"Would you be ok with me taking the dragon without marking you first? That's a lot to handle."
"Well, then you could mark me. You'd be a dragon."
"I'd be a new dragon baby. I still wouldn't know what the hell I'm doing. I need to get rid of your brother before I mark you. I'm sorry, but I do. I'll do it without the dragon. I can't let anything happen to you. And I can't take the dragon from you now. It's not fair."
"It's your dragon, Alden. I'd rather you have the dragon. You are at war with a dragon. I need you to live too."
"Can we think about it, baby? That's so much."
"But you're mine." Part of our bond breaks.
"I am yours and you are mine. This doesn't change any part of that. I love you so much. I don't want to hurt even a hair on your head. It seems like there's no easy answer here, but I can't let you die. I know that much. I have to protect you, baby."
"Ok." I can't say anything else. His mind is made up. My mate isn't going to mark me yet.
We have dinner on the ship. Then go back to the planet for some fireworks and to watch them pretend to sing some more. I watch the crowd. They are happy here.
