39. King Victor

"Think about earth. These people aren't even as advanced as them. We'll go down, flash lights on the platforms, get their attention. Play a song if we have to."
I crack up laughing. "You know that's all you want to do."
"It looked fun. But anyway, get their attention, say we're killing the snakes to free them from being food. They'll believe us, they need something to believe. They're praying for a miracle now."
Tobias smiles. "Let's go be the miracle."
"Fine. This is the most horrible plan though. Be a miracle. Sing a song. Poison and blow up snakes."
"Are you going down too, baby?"
"Yes, I need to watch this plan fall completely apart. I'll be on top of a platform though. About 40 feet in the air."
They laugh at me. Tobias nods, "Let's each take a shuttle down. It'll be better for shocking them. Do not land me, Collin, or Kehlani's shuttles though. We can fly out. She can step out onto a platform. I'll fly down to the ground. Put extra rockets and launchers in my shuttle. It'll stay in the air, people won't be able to get to it." The boys nod at him.
A brain walks over. "Another shuttle will be traveling with you. It will house the cyanide materials and cyanide. We will land in empty fields only. We must stay away from people."
"That works."
Victor motions at the brain. "Put as many brains in me and Alden's shuttles as you can. Safety purposes."
Alden says, "Give Kehlani 10 brains as well."
"Yes, sirs."
"WAIT... I NEED TO LOOK GOOD." I run to my room.
I come out 20 minutes later, perfect in my white and light blue barely there outfit. I love this. I tighten the arm bands and go to the command area.
"Where did they go?"
"Getting dressed."
Star runs in. "HE WON'T LET ME GO."
"Baby, it is too dangerous. Stay on the ship. I'll be back soon." Collin is dressed up.
"I WANT TO GO TOO."
The rest of them come in with black pants and suit jackets with button-down shirts on. "That's what you boys are going to fight monster snakes in?"
"I'VE NEVER EVEN SEEN ANOTHER PLANET." She throws herself down.
"No."
"We can change when we're doing that part. We have to look good at first." Victor gives me an evil look.
I get an outfit for Star made on the box. It's like mine. Then I touch it to her. "Stay with me." I give Collin a dirty look. "We'll be 40 feet above the ground, sir."
"Fine. But keep your butt on that platform."
She jumps up smiling and nodding.
Tobias laughs. "Well, look at what you 2 are wearing."
"We are not fighting snakes. We will be floating 40 feet above the ground."
"Quit arguing. Everyone looks fine. Are the rockets and the cyanide materials loaded?"
"Yes, sir."
"Good. Let's go. Remember we're shocking them with lights and technology. We're here to help them." Alden leads us to the elevator.
Star and I get into our shuttle and sit by the door. They hooked a floating platform to the bottom of it for us. It's going to move over. We will stand on that while they talk.
We begin the descent and 1 of the shuttles goes off in a different direction. Then I see the village. It seems the same. People are out. I watch them and see them looking up at us. They point and jump up and down.
"Is it normal to be nervous?"
I nod. "I'm about to be sick."
Our shuttle stops before we get to the ground. I hear the platform shift, then the door opens. 2 brains grab me and take me onto it. 2 more brains bring Star. Then the platform moves away from the shuttle. I stand on the edge and watch the people. They are excited. They are pointing at us and the shuttles.
I watch 2 shuttles land. The people stay back. Even the guards won't go up to them. But the doors open and the brains come out. They give the boys a 20-foot area between them and the crowd.
Then people start screaming. Tobias and Collin fly to the boys as dragons. The crowd sees them turn into other boys and they cheer.
Star laughs. "They really are hoping for a miracle."
"Yea, they are."
Then I hear Victor talking clear as day. He must have done something to his voice or the brains are amplifying him.
"I heard you have a snake problem?" They scream and jump around. "You want help with that?" They scream louder and half of them fall down crying. Some appear to be praying. "We need to speak with your planet's elders. Or whoever is in charge here."
Right that second. Out of nowhere, a giant snake comes right up out of the ground. It's kind of standing up. It's staring right at me and Star. It must have come because of the noise.
It lunges at me. We jump off and turn into dragons. We fly backwards and the snake grabs the platform. I can get away with no problem, I know that. I would rather not run though. I can keep his attention on me while they make a plan.
Star is right beside me. She must be thinking the same thing I am. She makes a screeching sound and flaps her wings loudly.
He shakes the platform and I blow fire at him. Tobias and Collin show up beside us and start blowing fire too. Then the snake lunges at us again.
He almost gets my foot. That thing has serious lunge speed. I blow fire and a big ass boulder smacks him in the head. It smashes his head, and he drops straight to the ground. The people on the ground cheer and cry. Half of them drop to their knees right then. I watch Alden cut its head off.
Tobias smacks me with his wing. We land with him and burn the s**t out of the snake while Victor and Alden talk to someone.
I turn to my vampire form and stand by the smoking head. "Why did he come after me?"
Collin rubs his eyes. "He punched through the ground hard. Then he was at your eye level, with the platform flashing those lights. It seemed like the perfect meal to it."
"I had no idea what to do."
"You both did perfectly. You kept its attention. If it dropped to the ground, it would have gone after all those people."
Star smiles and hugs him.
"Who summoned the boulder? That's advanced magic."
"We'll have to figure that out later. I don't know which of them did it. Really glad it worked though."
I nod fast. "You and me both."
People start to walk up slowly and touch the snake. They peek at us but stay back. They're in shock but very happy. Most of them are crying and smiling.
I can't help but smile. We really did help them.
Then a lady comes up and puts a basket of something that has the appearance of apples at my feet. I pick up the basket and smile. I actually love the basket. Still not willing to eat though.
Tobias pulls my arm and I follow him to a building Alden and Victor are coming out of. We stand side by side. Alden takes the basket and hands it to a brain.
Victor's voice goes loud again. "We'll get rid of the giant snakes in return for your submission. I will be your king."
A little girl about 2 years old comes running up. I grab her and pick her up. She giggles and gives me a hug.
A lady runs up a second later. "I'm sorry. She got away from me."
I hug the little girl and hand her back. "She's beautiful."
The lady smiles at Victor. "What's your name... king?"
"Victor."
"King Victor."
The baby giggles. "King Victor." She says it, but it comes out so sweet and innocent.
"Aww. She tried so hard. She's my favorite."
Alden rubs his eyes.
The lady turns around and yells, "TO KING VICTOR."
I glance around, and they're on their knees already. They start saying, "King Victor."
Victor smirks, "Ok, I have some snakes to kill. I'll be back."
We crack up laughing and follow him to a shuttle. I turn back to the group following us before I get in, "Make sure that snake gets burnt up, or it will stink really badly in a day. It may take us a few days to come back."
"Yes ma'am. We'll make sure."
