Words of A Dangerous Man

Her throat was dry and she felt like she was eating sand. Nang imulat niya ang mga mata ay hindi niya alam kung naasaan siya. For a moment, she was debating with herself about where she was. But then the door opened and in came Lorcan, which made her instantly remember what he did.

"Where is Kai?" she asked. Nakita naman niyang natigilan ito butnit was only a short while. Maya-maya pa ay nagpatuloy ito sa paglalakad.

She got the chance to roam her eyes around and she realized she isn't inside one of Sylvaine's luxurious rooms.

"Where am I?" tanong niya.

"To answer your first question, your dear boyfriend is tucked safely on the bed. Eleanor gave you her word. And as for your second question, you are in a prison cell."

She gritted her teeth. "Why the hell am I here?"

Lorcan stood in front of her and handed her a glass of water. A straw was protruding from the height of the glass which means he wasn't planning on removing the ropes tied to her hands.

"Drink first," Lorcan said.

Her pride told her not to drink but her throat was so dry. So she leaned and drank using the drinking straw. When she finished the glass of water, she looked up at Lorcan. Nakita naman niyang nakatingin ito sa kanya.

"Do you need another glass?" tanong ng lalaki. She wanted to say yes but she shook her head. Sa tingin niya'y alam ng lalaki na nagsisinungaling siya but he did not balk and stepped back instead.

"Do you know why you are here?" tanong nito sa kanya.

"I was thinking you'd probably kill me but then you would have done it even when I was unconscious," she said. She saw amusement dancing in his eyes as she said it.

"I sound really bad in your perspective, love," he said as he leaned on the wall and crossed his arms.

"You choked me to my almost death and drove your hand to several people including my boyfriend. So yes, you are bad in my perspective," sagot naman niya. This time, the amusement was gone in his eyes. For a moment, she was worried about what he would do but she remained calm and he remained standing quite a distance from her.

Nang hindi sumagot ang lalaki ay saka naman bumuhos sa kanya ang mga katanungan. "Anong koneksyon ko sa mga taong gustong magpakulong sa inyo? And how are they going to imprison you?"

"I am flattered you think highly of me that you don't think there are many possible ways for me to be...cornered," he said then he pulled himself from the wall and walked toward her. "They are going to make a prison world, similar to the other side where dead supernaturals go, and they are going to send me, my family, and the vampires there."

"And what's that got to do with me?"

"Exactly my question, Nadia. Esmeralda and Leila don't know the answer and my only choice is Isabela who seems to have developed the skill of making herself scarce."

Kumunot ang noo niya habang nakatingin sa lalaki. "You're trying to find out if I know something about this?"

"Do you have any witch ancestors?"

It was probably the absurdest thing she has heard. Being told she has a wolf's blood was one thing. Being asked about having witch ancestors is another.

"I should expect next time someone would come and accuse me of having vampire blood too," she answered a little too nonchalantly. The next thing she realized was that Lorcan was already in front of her. She knew about his awesome vampire speed but she still gets startled every time he uses it that she almost lost balance in her chair.

"Do you have any witch ancestors?" tanong nito ulit. His face is several inches closer to her now and she swallowed hard.

"I...Not that I know of," she answered. Naningkit ang mga mata ni Lorcan habang nakatingin sa kanya na para bang tinitingnan nito kung nagsasabi ba siya ng totoo o hindi. "Where is this coming from? What's going on, exactly? Why am I involved with this again?"

"This is not my choice, Nadia--"

"Of course, it is!" she exclaimed. She was too surprised by the sudden rise of her voice but she's too mad to even care. She was with Kai earlier, or was it yesterday? Hindi niya alam kung ilang oras na siyang walang malay. Nakapagdesisyon na siya na aalis na sila sa syudad at manirahan sa malayo. She had already thought of places where she and Kai could live in peace. And then out of the blue, Lorcan shows up and takes her. Driving his hand straight to Kai's heart just to make her yield.

"You could have just left us alone, Lorcan. You could have just driven us out of the city," she hissed.

"I did just that before but you made it perfectly clear it won't be easy to drive you away and now you're entangled with our mess," he said, his voice was low.

"Wala akong kinalaman sa kung ano mang plano ng mga kalaban mo. Just let me go and I will go as far away as possible."

"I can't and I won't."

"Bakit ba ang tigas ng ulo mo? You may be used to getting what you want but this isn't something I would give to you easily, Lorcan. I was planning to leave. We were planning to leave. I promised Kai it would be final. I promised him we would be together again. You can't just swoop in and take me just so you could stop your death--"

"This isn't just my death, Nadia."

"Oh, sorry! I mean your family's death together with all the other vampires, am I right?"

Umigting ang panga ni Lorcan and she could tell his patience is thinning.

Then he said, "I am saving you and your boyfriend's life, Nadia."

Nakakunot ang noo niya habang nakatingin sa lalaki ngunit bago pa man siya makapagsalita ay nagpatuloy ito.

"There is a coven of witches trying to get to you to be used as a foundation for this prison world they're planning to make. The other vampires caught up with this news and guess what they want to do."

She doesn't know what to say dahil hindi niya rin alam kung anong gustong sabihin ng lalaki. "Vampires all of the city are going to find you and for this prison world to cease to exist, they will kill you. And you know vampires are ruthless so they would kill Kaiden too. Now, I took you here because I don't want you dead. And as much as I am not fond of Kaiden, I don't want him dead either."

"Are you saying you're protecting...me?"

Lorcan stood straight and looked at her. "That's right. I don't usually protect anyone, Nadia. But when it comes to you, I feel like all my nerve endings are in a rush the moment I realized your life is in danger. Hate me all you want but you will not be let out of here until I fix this."

She was surprised to hear what he said ngunit hindi siya nagpadala doon. Instead, she said, "And how are you supposed to fix this?"

Tahimik lang ang lalaki and she instantly knew what she was planning to do.

"You're going to kill the witches," she said. Tumingin naman ang lalaki sa kanya. There was a certain glint in his eyes that makes her wonder about the horrible things he could do.

"And I plan to make it quick," he said and before she could even say something, Lorcan was gone from the room and she was left alone, dumbfounded.

Somehow, she has a feeling it's not going to end really well.
