Run, Lily, Run!

Evalynn POV “Run, Lily, Run!” I urge my sister as we duck down the fire escape from our apartment, dodging between buildings of the small rural town, while running through the frozen fricken tundra of Michigan.  Thankfully these traffickers were all humans so they were easy to escape. Cold Moon has apparently placed a hefty price on our heads, so it won’t be long before any variety of individuals come out of the wood works to hunt us down.  Alpha James wants his daughter back as Lily is his only heir, and he wants me back to take the place of my mother... What a freaking sicko! We reach our emergency vehicle which is stashed a few blocks away from our apartment in a parking garage. The little, white Toyota Corolla is stocked with a full tank of gas, food, bottled water, two suitcases with mine and Lily’s clothes and necessities, and the rest of the cash my mother left me hidden in the lock box under the seat.  As I steer us out of the parking garage I watch closely, on high alert for anyone who might be tailing us.  Soon I’m satisfied we aren’t being followed, I pull onto the highway, headed southwest towards our new destination. My sister and I had decided that a large city full of all types was the best place to go where we wouldn’t be noticed.  We drove for several hours, stopping only when we needed gas at which time we’d use the bathroom and replenish our snacks and refreshments.  Lily and I took turns driving so the other could take a nap as we decided not to linger and leave a scent behind anywhere.  After a literal day and a half of driving, I roused my sister awake. “Hey Lily, welcome to Sin City!” I said excitedly. Lily sits up rubbing her eyes while attempting to stifle a yawn.  “Oh thank Goddess, I thought we’d never get here.”  Traveling from US HWY 93, we make our way to Las Vegas Boulevard, and before long we are gazing in awe at the towering casinos and resorts around us.  Deciding to remain in the main hustle and bustle for the first week, I managed to secure us rooms at the Excalibur, which just so happens to be at the opposite end of the strip from where we entered. Traffic here sucks, I hope I never have to drive it again.  Thankfully we reach the resort in one piece, pulling up to the doors we are met with the valet who assists us in unloading our suitcases before driving away.  After we are all checked in, Lily and I head upstairs to our double queen suite to collapse in exhaustion after our long journey. Three months later... Lily and I have settled in well to an upscale apartment a few blocks from the strip, near our new jobs at a newer resort named Midnight Moon - Ok, if this isn’t owned by a wolf, I’ll be shocked quite frankly, but then again pretty much all Las Vegas casinos are owned by the so-called supernatural, how else do you think this desert wasteland has been so successfully developed?  During the week we work day shift as servers at the pool from 10am to 6pm, and on the weekends we work night shifts in the club from 8pm to 4am. Our days off each week are Sunday and Monday. While neither of us are fans of being groped and fondled, we make serious bank on our tips alone, in addition to the owner of the resort actually paying a livable wage, so major win there.  Today is Tuesday so Lily and I are dolling ourselves up before we call the Uber to take us to work. We are running late this morning as we usually do on Tuesdays, so we are already dressed in the company issued bikinis underneath our clothes. I’m wearing a pair of dark blue, ripped jean shorty shorts, while Lily wears shorts of a lighter blue. I pull on a white, loosely fitted t-shirt, grabbing my Coach bag I head down to meet the Uber with Lily hot on my heels.  We barely make it to work in time, and miss the first few words of Madam Rosita’s daily pep meeting. Madam Rosita is a short, plump, Hispanic woman who happens to be our manager, and each day she gives us a heads up about who is staying at the resort and where we need to focus our attention.  “Nice of you girls to join us.” Madam Rosita says through her heavy accent.  “Sorry Madam.” Lily and I both reply quickly. “As I was saying, the owner of the resort is staying here for the week. He has brought friends with him, and I want you and Lily to dedicated your time to keeping these men happy. There are no other customers for the two of you, except for Mr. Cross and his affiliates, so I make myself clear?” Madam instructs us and gives us a hard scowl. “Yes, Madam.” We say in unison, and as soon as Madam Rosita looks away Lily grins at me. We are usually the chosen servers for the high rollers of the resort, which is why Madam hasn’t fired us yet for our tardiness, we bring in too much money.  Not paying attention to the rest of the pep meeting, I startle when I realize Madam Rosita is standing directly in front of me, with a very noticeable frown upon her face. “Um... Can you repeat the question?” I ask sheepishly while Lily tries hard to stifle a laugh which results in her snorting like a pig.  Madam Rosita lets out a large, exasperated sigh, “I merely informed you that Mr. Cross has reserved his cabana from 12-4, so until that time, you can relax and mingle with the guests. Once the party arrives you are to give them your full dedication. Whatever they want, you will give.” She says sternly. “Ok, well for everything but the ‘whatever they want’ bit. I have standards and morals, you know.” I say jokingly to Madam who just scowls at me harder and waves Lily and I away.  “Way to rattle the boss on our first day back for the week.” Lily whispers to me as we make our way to our lockers. We store our bags, shorts and t-shirts, and change out our flip flops for black strappy heels to match our black bikinis.  I do one last mirror check of my hair and make-up before following Lily out to the pools.
