As soon as he got near me, I suddenly felt a strange force that pulls me closer to him; that makes me want to feel his touch and his warmth. It was something I couldn't explain, but it is making me want to be with him. Then it was followed by a searing pain along with the pounding of my heart. It took me a few seconds to notice that the burning sensation is stemming from the mark on my hand—the lycan's mark. When my eyes darted on it, I saw the pentagram gradually emitting some sort of light.
"It's reacting," he whispered and I my body shivers in excitement when his warm breath hit my nape. "So do you..." he added in a tone of amusement before I heard him chuckle. "You're really the chosen mortal. No doubt about it."
I took a deep breath as I swallow the lump in my throat. I closed my eyes and focused on calming myself, especially the raging heat inside me and my pounding heart. It took me a few seconds to open my eyes. And with all my might, I turn led around to face him, but it was just for a second before I looked away. He is way too charismatic and handsome, I'll give him that. But still, it won't change the fact that he is a monster; the one who will devour me any moment from now.
"Welcome to the Northern Domain, human," he told me. There's this hint of arrogance in his voice so I had no choice but to throw him a gaze. He grins at me as soon as our eyes met. His silvery eyes glinted in amusement. "Oh, what's this rage I am seeing in your eyes?"
"When?" I asked. I clutched my hands so hard just to stop the fumes from coming out my body. I hate the way he looks at me. He's literally making me feel like I am something he can r****h with ease.
"What do you mean when?" he asks as a grin of amusement showing on his face. "And why are you so hostile?" His grin widens as he scans my whole body.
"You know what I am talking about!" I yelled at him. I can feel my shoulder rising and falling from my heavy breathing just to contain my rage. "Stop toying with my feelings and just kill me already!" The frustration I feel inside me made some beads of tears form on the edges of my eyes. I looked down to hide my shamelful expression. "J-Just kill me already..."
Instead of a response, I heard a chuckle. And it was an insult for me. It made me feel so little; more frustrated than I currently am.
"Did they send a crazy one this time?" I heard him say. "Milly, let her rest for a bit. She seems overwhelmed," he said before I hear footsteps moving away from me.
I looked up and saw his back and bare as.s walking away from me. I took a step to chase him but I suddenly felt dizzy. Everything around me seems to be all jiggly and blurry. I held my temple and tried to close my eyes but the feelings got even worse. I can feel the strong pull of gravity, weakening my legs. I fell on my knees as I felt the urge to puk.e. I hugged myself and tried to get up but I suddenly lost all
The strength I had earlier.
"Lady Yelina..." I heard Milly's voice before I felt a pair of soft hands gently holding my arms and pulling me to stand up. "The Alpha is right. You should get some rest. Your body is not yet used to this place," she added. And it was the last thing I remember before everything went black
When I came to my senses, I am already inside a massive room. I am lying on a soft canopy bed with white curtains. I got up and I groaned when I felt a pang in my head. I closed my eyes and waited for the pain to fade, and when it did, I slowly open it. I then looked around. The room is mostly made of wood—from the furnitures, floor, ceiling, and other things. There's also a glass of water and a tray of food on the bedside table.
My forehead wrinkles as I get confused by what is happening. Why am I still alive? Why they haven't killed me yet? Does that arrogant monster wants me in my best condition before he decides to feast on my flesh?
I got out of bed. I was about to exit the room when my eyes caught a glimpse of something. I hurried to the window and my eyes widened in surprise. Outside seems to be a vast field of snow. I can't see anything aside from a blanket of white frost.
"S-Snow?" I murmur.
I jolted when I heard three consecutive knocks on the door before I heard the clicking sound of the knob. I turned around to see who it was and saw Milly warmly smiling at me. "You're finally awake, Lady Yelina."
I gave her a nod. "Is it time?"
Her brows furrowed as she looked at me, confused. "Time for?"
I smiled at her. "You don't have to act as if you don't have a clue on what I am trying to talk about, Milly. I have long accepted my fate." I looked at her in her eyes. "So, tell me, did the time has come?"
She shook her head, wolf-like ears wiggling. "I am really sorry, Lady Yelina, but I don't really know what you're talking about. Can you please at least enlighten me?" she responded.
I did not respond. I sat on my bed to assess the situation. Basing on her reaction, she seems to be unaware of the fate that awaits me. Maybe that monster hides it from them and has made them think that all the bearers of lycan's mark before me died naturally. If that's the case, then I will not die here immediately. He will probably find a way to kill me without anyone noticing.
What an evil scheme!
"Lady Yelina?" I looked at Milly and she is looking at me as if she is trying to read my gestures. "Is there something wrong?" she asked.
"Nothing," I assured her.
"If that's so, please come with me," she said. She came close and stuck her hand out. "The Alpha is waiting for you in his room," she added. Her last words made my heart skip a beat for some reason, and I am quite confused if it was because of fear or something else.
I had no choice but to accept her hand. I would still end up facing that monster no matter what I do. And as soon as I grab Milly's hand, she gently pulls me off my bed.
"This has always been the most exciting part of the chosen one's arrival," she said in a tone of excitement. I even heard her contained giggles as we walk through the hallway. "I can't wait to see how you and the Alpha will get along."
I halted when I realized something. That made Milly stop, too. She looked at me with inquiring eyes, "What's the matter, Lady Yelina?"
"Milly, how did you that I was coming in your domain?" I know it's too late to ask, but I just want to know. I thought about it the moment I saw her, but that thought was set aside when my mind was occupied with other matters.
"The Alpha told us about your arrival. He was the one who shared information about you—no, actually he did with with the late bearers of the lycan's mark, too," she answered. And before I could even ask how he was able to know, she continued speaking, "If you're wondering how he found our, we don't know. No one from us knows about how the Alpha was able to obtain those information. We tried asking him that but he told us it's a secret just between him and the divine creator."
A nod was all I could do to respond. I can't help but to think about it, too. There are still lots of things that I don't know. I was only given a general information about that monster and my role in this domain. I also stopped reading about the records given to the bearer of the lycan's mark as soon as I realized that he is no divine being but a monster who will take claim my life.
"But there's only one thing I can assure you, Lady Yelina, you're everything the Alpha needs," she said.
I wanted to ask her why did she say those words but we seem to have reached the monster's room. We stopped in from of a massive wooden door. "My job here is done. You may go inside, Lady Yelina," she said as she slightly pushes the door, creating a creaking sound.
"Okay," I responded as I pushed the door wide opened to let him know that I have arrived.
I was welcomed by a spacious room. There's a big canopy bed at the center with white, silky curtains that seem to be reflecting the warm, golden light from the chandelier. At the left side is a sofa and a mini table set made from wood. On the sofa sits comfortably the monster who seems to be enjoying his hot drink. He did not even bother to look at me even though I have made my presence obvious.
"So, why do you want to see me?" I asked to call his attention.
He put the cup he is holding before he darted his silvery eyes on me. A smirk flashed on his b****y red lips. "Why do you sound like you're always mad?" he asked in a teasing manner. He patted the space next to him. "Why don't you sit beside me and let's talk things out in a gentler and calmer manner?"
"You know exactly why I am acting like this, you monster," I boldly told him. I made sure he hears the anger and hostility in my voice. "Drop the act and show me your true color. Its the perfect time; no one's around," I urged him and was able to flash a smirk.
He let out a laugh as if he heard a good joke. He then puffs an air before looking at me, "You seemed to have misunderstood everything, Yelina," he said, standing up. He grins at me as he starts to take a step closer. "Tell me, why do you seem to angry at me when I mean you no harm?"
"You can't fool me. I have seen through your schemes; something the late bearers failed to do." I raised my chin. "So stop fooling me and just kill me already."
He laughed harder after what I said. I even saw beads of tears forming on the edges of his eyes. And I couldn't help but to feel more insulted by his behavior. I wanted to slap him for taking my words as something he can laugh to.
It took him a few seconds before he stopped laughing. His face then suddenly got serious. His silvery eyes looked at me piercingly. "Why would I even kill someone as precious as you?" he asked, taking a few steps closer to me.
I wanted to step backwards but my feet won't move. When he was just a few inches away, I feel like I am running out of air to breathe. My heart started to beat faster and louder. Then I felt it again—the urge to feel his warmth; to be touched; and the searing pain that stems from the mark on my hand.
"Tell me..." he said in his raspy voice, warm breath hitting my neck; making my body shiver. "Why would I hurt someone destined to be the other half of me?"
