Camila’s POV The taxi meter blinked its final amount as I handed over the crisp bills to the driver, his eyes briefly catching mine in the rearview mirror with a nod of acknowledgment. “Thank you for riding with me, ma’am.” He said and I smiled. That was just a plot to get a five-star review. “Keep the change,” I murmured, more out of habit than generosity, pushing the door open to step out onto the familiar yet distant terrain of my childhood home. It’s been weeks since I’ve been here to talk to my father, and I didn’t feel as nervous as I was now back then even though I hadn’t seen him for years.
