Chapter 5 “So how did finals go?” Cody’s mother asked at supper on Wednesday night. He spooned mashed potatoes onto the plate, to go along with his mom’s meatloaf. “Pretty good, I think,” he said. “Especially American History. Chem wasn’t too good. But I think I did all right on the rest of them. Even English.” “Good,” his father grunted. “Nice to know that money I spent on your tutor isn’t going to waste.” “Miss Frazier has been a big help,” Cody agreed. “She’s taught me a lot about taking notes and study habits. I don’t know if I managed to pull my grades up much this semester. It was just too late to accomplish much, aside from finals. But I am going to kick ass next semester.” “I hope so,” Angie said. “It would be nice to have a conversation that wasn’t about football or pigs.” “
