“I know we’re all confused. And for f**k’s sake, Rosalyn, get your foot off of the guard. Can we all go inside? I’m not having Will get ill,” Micah snapped as he cuddled his son closer to him.
Rosalyn sighed as she stepped away, and the man stood up; he eyed the group for a few seconds before backing down and going inside his box to click a button. The gate slowly began whirring open.
"Was that necessary?" Micah said as he looked back.
"Yes. Don't think I missed the way he glared at you, Micah. And last time I checked, my eyes weren't on my chest. f*****g hell. Just because I'm wearing a dress he thinks he can undermine me."
"Rosalyn. Why am I here?" The boy asked, and Jem eyed him. He seemed familiar. He didn't like him.
"Grey, your dad-" Alexander began, but the boy cut him off.
"I know, Alexander. I'm sorry about him," he said—his voice. Jem remembered why he seemed familiar, he recognised his voice, and he had been the one speaking to Alexander at the ball.
"It's your father. He rejected our father. Oh, you have some nerve showing up-"
"Jem! Shut up," Rosalyn snapped as she scowled at her brother.
The boy was looking at Jem, and he squeezed his hands into a fist. Jem thought he had pissed him off and was glad he had.
"Well, bye then," Micah said. He turned around and eyed the group. "Well, Grey is here. He can take you to the Alpha's dorms. I'm not stupid enough to go there."
"Where are you going?" Jem asked. Jem didn’t want him to go.
"To the omegas dorm," he replied with a duh tone.
"We're coming."
"Let me ask you something, Jem. What are you all?"
"Alpha's?"
"And what am I?"
"An omega?" Jem replied, and Micah stared at him. Jem felt like he was missing something here.
"You i***t. He's going to the Omega's dorms. And we're alphas. If we go there, it'll be dangerous. For everyone,” Rosalyn said, annoyed that her brother wouldn’t figure it out.
"Oh." But all Jem could think about was that he was leaving, which was dumb because he knew he’d see the shorter boy tomorrow, but still, there was that nagging he wouldn’t.
"Yes."
"So, we'll meet you in the courtyard tomorrow. Go with Grey. He'll help you. And if anything, I have your number, Jem." They watched as Micah left with Will.
"Jem?" Alexander said.
"What?"
"Go to the receptionist and go get the keys and your stuff. Get your sisters too."
"What, why do I have to go?" Jem frowned. Why was everyone trying to get rid of him all of a sudden? Did they want to spend time with the hot boy without him?
"Jem," Alexander said in that tone, and Jem sighed.
"Fine, fine. I'm going."
Jem walked away. Well, he pretended to. They were hiding something. They were all so surprised when that hot boy, Grey, appeared. Even Micah knew what the f**k was going on. Jem hated not knowing. It made him feel some horrid emotions. So, he pretended to go, and he didn't. He slowed his breathing so they couldn't hear him, and he listened. Well, he tried to, anyway.
"Jem. f**k off," Rosalyn yelled, and he grumbled. He guessed he’d have to find another way. And indeed, that wouldn't be too difficult. He did go this time.
"Boy, it's after midnight. Who are you, and why are you wandering around the school?" The lady, Jem, read her tag. Maureen asked.
"I'm new. My name's Jem, I'm here to get mine and Rosalyn's dorm number key thing and our schedules and anything else we'll need."
"Gender?" she asked as she began typing away on her keyboard.
"Male?"
"Not that one."
"Oh! Alphas."
"Both?"
"Yes. Ma'am?" Jem added. Was he supposed to add ma'am?
"Gender?" she asked again, and Jem frowned a little. He had just told her.
"Alpha."
She stared at him. "Oh, you mean actually. I'm a man and Rosalyn is a woman."
"Okay, here you go. What about," she looked at the computer. "Alexander? It said he was supposed to be coming with you."
"I'm here," Alexander said, and Jem turned around to glare at all three of them. What were they hiding from him?
"Grey?" Maureen said. "You know them?"
He nodded. "Yes, I do."
Jem didn't like him. He faked a smile. He'd been faking his smiles at the ball too. Every single emotion Jem had seen in him was a lie.
"Oh, that's great. Then can you show them around?" He nodded. The three of them looked at Jem, and he frowned again.
"What?"
"Nothing," Grey said, and why did he speak up and not the other two? They all eyed each other.
"Liars," Jem hissed.
"Liars," Rosalyn mocked.
Jem’s eyebrows shot up when he noticed something. Grey had flinched when Rosalyn had mocked him. Jem also realised that Grey was looking everywhere but at him.
"Stop it, idiots," Alexander said as he gave an apologetic smile to Maureen, who looked very unimpressed with them all.
Grey walked ahead, and the siblings followed behind. "Alexander, I'll show you to the dorm keepers' room first." He nodded.
Jem froze. Would they be sharing a dorm? Why not? He didn’t understand. They were all alphas.
"Why aren't we sharing a dorm?" Jem said. "We're all alphas. So why aren't we together?"
"Alexander is a dorm manager. He helps with omegas. So his room is closer to the omegas dorms." So they followed Grey like lost children. Jem frowned. Wasn’t that dangerous? Alexander didn’t even have his mate.
Rosalyn and Alexander were communicating, or their wolves were. Jem was curious to know if Grey's Wolf was too. He probably was.
"Stop it," Jem deadpanned. Sometimes, he regretted it like now. But when he calmed down, he’d be okay again. They all ignored him. Jem scowled as he called them assholes.
"Okay, so this is your room, Alexander. To your left is the Omega's dormitory, and the Alphas are on the opposite side. Further away from the Omegas."
"Wait, why am I put on this side? isn't it safe? You know about me being an alpha?" he said. Is that what he was worried about? Not being separated from them? Jem frowned.
"What if an omega goes into heat?" Rosalyn said. "It's pretty dumb to have alphas around then."
"None of them should go into heat. They all take special heat represents. But in an unlikely case it does happen, you need to find an alpha who has a mate. They won't be affected by the omega’s pheromones. From then, your job will be to keep all other alphas away." He nodded.
"Right, see you guys. Don't kill each other, please,” Alexander said. Jem frowned once again. He seemed fine. Why wasn't he worried? Grey then led the way to the female alpha's dorms. Jem glared. At the least, he thought he would be with his sister, but he was not.
Were they leaving him? No, he was being ridiculous. For security reasons, they had to split them up. They wouldn’t just leave him. Right?
