38 Bradamante and Rinaldo walked along the dirt path ,through the rain and the growing darkness, back toward the two tents sitting on the outskirts of camp. Tents meant to give Astolpho and Michaela privacy, Bradamante remembered. Now she was grateful for their request. It meant that she could concentrate on only Astolpho and Jara, taking care of them, doing everything she could. She had dragged them into the tents and out of the rain shortly after they fell ill. Then she had to watch helplessly while blood and waste poured from their bodies and their limbs jerked uncontrollably against the ground. There was nothing Bradamante could do.
