Rinaldo and Martel searched the tents on Orlando’s side of camp.
They discovered Orlando and twenty-two of his men ill and unconscious, but still alive.
Rinaldo had to put Bradamante out of his mind for now. He had to do this first.
He would think about his sister as soon as he could.
And about Michaela, too. To Rinaldo’s great relief, she had returned.
Martel reported what he found: the red-haired woman coming out of Astolpho’s tent. He asked her where Bradamante was. Michaela hadn’t seen her.
Not the whole time she was there, however long that had been so far. Michaela hadn’t been inclined to answer too many of Martel’s questions.
