Am I Being Abused?
I read a blog post that addressed Domestic Discipline and an article the blogger had read about a Christian wife discussing being spanked, and pretty much with the blessing of the Church. I’m seminary-trained, remember, and can tell you that in conservative Christianity, women are to submit to their husbands as they would to their Lord, in that the husband is considered the wife’s earthly authority. The husband obeys God, and the wife obeys the husband.
We never discussed the subject in seminary, but I’d be willing to bet there was a red-hot spankin’ goin’ on fairly often in lots of those perfect little marriages in those perfect little homes.
The readers of the blog post were appalled, so much so that seven hundred and fifty-three replies were made.
