Chapter Six Tower As mentioned earlier, the property had a stone tower that overlooked the old airstrip, buildings and land. The tower design was early middle ages and it must have taken plenty of manpower and money to construct such an edifice. From any angle, it looked mostly like a tall chimney with a copper-roofed cap and balcony on top, having only one steel door at the base and no windows anywhere except at the top. When I first saw the property, I was fascinated by this out of place structure, but as the sale progressed, I simply didn’t have the time or interest to investigate further, so it went with the deal: estate, airport, tower and associated outbuildings.
