Chapter Eight The Case of Cynthia L. The Mason and Glass Building presented some interesting problems. One entire end of the 43rd floor was taken by the President’s suite, an area jealously guarded by hawk-eyed secretaries who seldom left their ring of posts. Clusters of offices arranged in open bays took up the rest of the space. All the desks had a clear line of sight to anyone entering from the bank of elevators. There a simply no place for a stranger to linger unobserved for the hour or so I would need to do my job.
