Chapter 1: The Death and the Transfer
"That's it for today. Good bye class. Enjoy your weekend." I bid my class goodbye and started walking out of the classroom. "Thank you, sir." The class responded in chorus. They're really good kids. "Your gratitude is misplaced. I teach you because I want to." I answered, smiling at them before continuing my way out. Some students greeted me on my way to the faculty's office and I smiled at them return. I was about to enter the office when I suddenly heard someone calling for me. Stopping midway, I turned around to see who was calling. "Sir Gin!" A bespectacled busty woman is waving at me, smiling and running towards me all the while smiling from ear to ear. She is Maria Glenn. A 30 year old math teacher. She's got a nice figure with all her fats in the right places that would shame some young teens. She is in fact, a mother of two cute daughters after all. If I got the chance to meet her while she's still single, I'd do everything in my power to date her. "Yes, ma'am. How can I help you?" I answered as politely as I can to prevent my thoughts from surfacing. I am a 27-year old hot (self-proclaimed) bachelor, mind you. Having her know that I see her hot and sexy would be awkward as coworkers after all. If only I could get a girlfriend. Why don't I have a girlfriend, you ask? It's because I haven't seen the one for me yet. Well, kidding aside, I don't even know myself. What's wrong with me? It's not like I am that oblivious. I know I'm shy and can't get my ass together when I am talking with girls. Back in the days, I don't have the tiniest bit of courage to confess my feelings. I have seen twice, no, make it thrice if you include the girl next to ours when I was a snotty brat, they all got taken by someone without them knowing what I felt. But now that I have decided to go on the offensive, most girls around me are married or are already in a relationship. "Ummmm... Is there something on my face?" I was brought back from reminiscing my painful past when Mrs. Glenn called out to me with a worried look on her face. Ugh- that was damn embarrassing. I didn't realize I was staring at her thay intently. "No, I'm sorry. What were you saying?" I ask, using my best poker face. My million dollar business smile. "Oh! Yes! We are having a celebration for Mrs. Gonzaga's birthday tonight. Would you like to join?" Mrs. Glenn jumped up from excitement, reporting her intention. "Oh, that was tonight? Sure, I will. I'll go after I put down these to my table." I answered, showing her the papers I am holding all the while holding back the urge to tell her to stop acting like that in front of me since I might tell her how cute she is. "Okay. We will meet at the school's 4th gate exit. See you." She said cheerfully and smiled before walking away. I entered the faculty office and put my students' papers down on my table when the lights suddenly died down. Blackout? I thought for a second but the lights immediately went back so I just shrugged my shoulders passing it off as faulty wirings. Now then. I thought, hyping myself up to rouse some excitement in me as I find it very disinteresting, joining the birthday party alone, as the only guy in the group. I started walking towards the elevator.  Why did the school director decided to put the faculty office up on the 7th floor? I complained to myself as I waited for the elevator to come. The elevator finally arrived and no one is attending it. Given that it's already past 9:00 pm, that makes sense. I entered and pressed the button for the ground floor. I didn't expected that what would happened next would change the entire course of my life, of course, at this point, I didn't know a single thing about it. Everything went dark. Again with the faulty wirings? As I thought that, I heard something breaking. I felt a heavy impact coming from above. That was when I realized what happened. The elevator is falling- at a deadly speed. Ah, I see. The electricity went down and the cables supporting the elevator broke. Now, I am falling to my death with the elevator as my coffin. I thought, managing to analyze what happened despite staring death eye to eye. With the speed of the elevator falling, I don't have even 5 seconds left for me to act. Before I know it, pain run through all over my body. I was screaming. I knew I was, but I couldn't hear myself. After that agonizing pain, I was left numb. I couldn't feel my body. I feel deadly tired. Closing my eyes would mean accepting my death, right? That's what happens in movies. I thought to myself, trying to laugh at my own jokes while paying the price of vomiting blood all over. Crap, that hurts. My throat is crushed, huh? I couldn't even get a good laugh at my last moments. I can't move a single limb. I think my bones are all broken. My lungs are crushed. I can't breath. My vision is filled with red bloody color. I guess this is it. That was a good life. Remembering, watching my life as it flashed back before my eyes. My vision went blurry.  So this is how it feels to die, huh? Well, I can't take the pain anymore. I wish I could've known how it feels to have a girlfriend. With those last thoughts, I died. NOT EVEN A MINUTE PASSED "Wake up." The voice called to the floating ball of illumination. "Open your eyes." The voice called again. Who's that? The ball of illumination thought. He slowly opened his eyes.  I can't feel my eyes. Do I have eyes in the first place? But I can see. That's kinda amazing. He wandered, amazed at how things worked. What he saw was nothingness. Everything is black like he was looking at the night itself with nothing but some tiny star-like lights that is shining enough to illuminate the surroundings. He looked around, from up, down, left and right.  There's nothing but those tiny lights and that loner of a big light shing brighter than those tiny ones, huh? Wait, I am one of those lights! And we are all ligned up, surrounding that big light. Acting all high and mighty, huh? He thought, laughing at his own jokes. What am I, anyway? The instant he asked that question, memories flooded into his head, bulldozing their way to make him remember what he is. He is a human male named Gin Elias. A teacher in highschool. He had a normal family with two loving parents. He lived a rather good life leaving nothing but one regret. It is the regret of not experiencing the joy of loving a girlfriend and being loved back. Well, that was unnecessary. Reminding me of that painful regret. I thought grimacing at the memory that resurfaced. "Now that all of you are gathered. I will tell you why you are here." A voice suddenly echoed, making me jumped in surprise. "Where am I?" I asked, cutting him.off before he continued. "I have been asked by that same question for five times already. You are dead. You are now standing in neither heaven or hell, instead, you are standing in a rift in space between worlds." The voice explained, answering my question but that answer popped another question in me. "Worlds?" I confirmed what I heard. "All of you will be reincarnated in a world parallel to yours where the impossible becomes possible. Where your imaginations exist." The voice continued, magnificently ignoring me. "All of you have to make a change in that world. It does not matter whether be it a small change or a grand one. You just have to make an effort." The voice continued speaking, dominating the conversation. Hey hey, that isn't good, sir. You need to hear your conversation partner for it to work. I complained in my mind, completely giving up in asking questions. The tiny lights protested, all voicing their disagreements about the situation but the voice cut them off with a powerful tone. "I will give you extraordinary abilities, God-given talents that it is even rare for the citizens of that world, do not worry." The voice raised his voice for emphasis.  "You will retain all of your knowledge and memories. I will reincarnate you at different times so some of you will arrive their earlier than others." He continued soI listened intently. I am the type of man who listens when he is spoken to, after all. I thought about how fine of a man I am as listened to the voice. "Dont we have any say for this?" One light asked. Yeah, yeah. Go for it, whoever you are. I cheered for him internally before I realized that the light suddenly spoke. Those lights must be humans like me, huh? Thinking about the situation I am in, I reached to that conclusion. "No, all of you were chosen and you will be reincarnated. Do not you want that? You all died that night, after all."  The voice laid out his offer. "Well, I guess this is better than dying permanently." The light sounded convinced, bouncing up and down. Well it isn't a bad offer, yeah. Giving us a second chance, huh. There's one thing that's been bothering me though- all of us were chosen? For what basis? Before I could fire my question, the voice continued speaking. "Now, I will start giving your abilities." The voice. "We will start with you, Gary Guillermo." As the voice said that, a light floated forward. Gary Guillermo? Hey, hey! That's the famous crazy engineer! He is the engineer who invented things that changed human history! That guy died too? I thought remembering all the things I read about the man called Gary Guillermo. "You will be given the ability to create anything as you will as long as the necessary materials are present." The voice spoke, not even waiting for the light to settle down. "Hmmm, that is wonderful." With a moment's pause, the light flickered. I don't even need to see his face to know that he is smirking. So, by ability, he means powers? I thought it was just talents like singing and dancing and such. That is one hell of an ability, that's for sure. I squinted my eyes, realizing how overpowered that guy's gift. "Next will be you, Jason Jefferson." The voice continued. What the!? Jason Jefferson!? It's that athlete whose face always comes up in the news! He ruled different sports and gained at least three championships on each of those! He's one those considered to be the peak of humanity based on physical strength! How did that guy die? Nothing but absurd ways popped up in my mind for the reason that a man like Jason Jefferson dying. The light that must be Jason floated forward towards the big light where the voice is coming from. "You will be given the ability of maximum physical attributes. Strength, agility, endurance. You will be a superhuman." The voice spoke. Well, duh? He already is. I thought, wandering what the voice means by maximum physical attributes when I think of the Jason Jefferson I knew back on my previous life. "Whoooo! Thanks!" The light bounced for joy. "You will be next, Ezra Almiento." The voice continued, cutting off the celebration. Okay. Another famous personality. An environmentalist known for her firm stand in nature preservation. She must've plenty of enemies for her fierce personality. Fed up with the surprises, I held myself back from getting surprised and just simply recalled the face of the beautiful woman protesting about nature preservation in a rally I once saw in tv. "You will be given the ability to control nature and its four basic elements. Fire, water, air and earth." The voice spoke without even waiting for the light who is elegantly floating forward. "Thank you. With this ability, I swear to create a change to wherever you wish to send us." The light flickered brighter showing her strong conviction. Well, good for you, Miss. I hope we met on the other side. I thought, making sure to hit on her if we ever met. "Step forward, Edward Collins." The voice called. I am not even surprised. Now, a dictator. A brilliant tyrant leader who led his country to become the best country for a decade. What is that guy doing here, dying, leaving his citizens behind? Thinking those words that are nothing but meaningless, I was getting bored but I am a man who is proud to say that I can act calm and composed even when on the verge of yawning. "I will give you the ability to control people's mind and sway people's emotions." The voice spoke. I just noticed something. All the abilities given to them are related to the work they were doing before they died. So I will receive something like the ability to teach others? Laughing at my own joke, I crossed my fingers to wish thst such foolish thing must not happen. "Thank you." The light flickered ever so slightly. "Paul Javier." The voice called out. A famous engineer, a world-famous athlete, an international multi-awarded environmentalist, a president and now, the said-to-be the next pope? What's with the line up? Did all those important people died? Something isn't right. This can't be coincidence. Banishing all the foolishness from before, I started doubting the situation. Remembering, scanning and confirming all the information I have, the words ALL OF YOU ARE CHOSEN that was spoken by the voice brought everything together. "You will be given the ability to turn every situation to your favor as long as you see it fit. However- there will be some drawbacks." The voice continued as I immersed myself in my thoughts. "I will make good use of it, sir." The light flickered gently. "And lastly, step forward Gin Elias." As the voice called me, my thoughts are gathered and I reached a conclusion. What happened that night, what happened to all these people, the things that happened that lead to our deaths- they are all orchestrated. I do not know if we all died at the same time but there's one thing I am sure of, the voice allowed our deaths because we were chosen. If you think about it on the other side of the coin, we were killed and dragged by force to come here. I thought, being careful not to show the doubt that surfaced. +++ Without Gin knowing, the voice has been reading their thoughts all along. The voice knew everything they thought about the situation. Some are confused, some are delusional, some are still escaping the reality by passing it off as a dream but only Gin Elias arrived at the root of things. "I can see why these people would be chosen but as for me, I am just an ordinary teacher. Why am I here?" Gin asked that if not for the omniscience of The Voice, you wouldn't think that he already solved analyzed the situation he was in down to the root of it. "Woah! Really?" The light that is Jason Jefferson asked, surprised. "I chose you because I believe you can make a change." The Voice answered calmly, as still as rock. Now, Gin Elias, you will be given the ability to instantly learn anything." The Voice continued, not giving Gin the chance to ask another question. Pausing for a brief moment, the light who is Gin flickered slightly and bounced- "That's a relief! I really thought I would be given a lame ability like teaching others in a matter of minutes or something." Laughing foolishly, nobody knew what is running inside his head. Gin Elias. You don't have any achievements or whatsoever but that kind of analytical abilities of yours is what makes you a cut above others. The Voice thought, amazed and happy about making the right decision of choosing Gin. "Now, chosen ones, I will now transport you to Ingrassia!" The voice declared. In an instant, the scenery changed before them. Gin looked around and saw ruins, nothing but pieces of rubbles scattered around. From what I can make from the remains, I can say it is a castle that once stood there. He thought, picking up a piece of stone. He looked up, confirming that the sky is the same from the sky from his previous world.  Its dark though. I suppose it's night time? He squinted his eyes feeling that something is off about the scenery he is looking at. Stars filling the night sky and two moons shining above me. Hmmmm- two moons? He raised an eyebrow, realizing that the reason he felt off is because of the moons conquering the night. Moving on, he saw the horizon far from where he is standing and a sea of trees covering the entire land. I'm in some kind of mountain, huh? He thought. He was stop from wandering around when something suddenly flew up in front of him. A huge winged serpent like creature with spikes sprouting out all over its spine, scales covering its body with reptilian eyes glowing menacingly in the night. "A DRAGON!?" He can't help but exclaimed from the monstrous sight he never thought he would meet with the entirety of his life. "But there are two heads moving around its body with two separate long necks. A twin-head?" Observing the creature intently, he spoke to himself. He heard the sound of crumbling rocks in front of the cliff he standing and what appeared their was a man covered in battered full plated armor. Despite all the dents and cracks, he stood with dignity full of pride and strength. A two-headed dragon and battered, sweaty, buff man covered in heavy full plated armor. What kind of mess am I into? Can't a beautiful lady wearing a dress like the greek goddesses do appears and serves  me a warm welcome in this new world? He thought, sighing from the bottom of his heart.
