Tracy entered the diner and scanned around the whole place, her eyes glancing briefly on the eating patrons until she stopped at a woman waving at her. “Hey girl,” the woman said, waving at her. Tracy smiled and walked up to her, taking the seat opposite her, “damn are you a sight for sore eyes sweetie.”
Tracy chuckled, “thanks Stella and you and I both know why we don’t see each other often anymore.”
“Yeah, work sucks, especially working in shifts,” Stella, a beautiful blonde haired woman with sweet sage eyes said, she flicked her hair and looked at the counter, “well, you took so long coming so I ordered for the both of us, hope you don’t mind.”
“I never mind, Stella, you know that,” Tracy responded, taking her glass of juice and sipping from it.
“Hey order your own,” Stella said, taking the glass from her while Tracy rolled her eyes. “What’s your problem?”
“I have no problem,” she answered, signaling for the waitress and telling her to get her a glass of juice as well.
“Obviously, so how have you enjoyed your break, did you finally spend the time you wanted and as I can see, he didn’t kill you as you said he would.”
Tracy chuckled, “yeah, I bought him over with my one week off.”
Stella nodded, “how is Miranda though, I heard you had to cover for her at one time.”
“She fainted in the plane, but she is better now as I heard, turned out she was pregnant.”
“Ouch,” Stella frowned.
Tracy nodded, “yeah, imagine getting pregnant for that monster. Honestly, if marriage was like that, I would rather stay single.”
“Tell me about it,” Stella concurred, “honestly, she is the one taking that s**t, I will never endure that for any man. Say what? Love should better go to hell.”
Tracy laughed, “yeah, we all know what you can do.”
“Definitely,” she replied as the waitress placed Tracy’s drink on the table and she took a sip from it, “so how about you, anyone new?”
Tracy glanced at her, putting her glass down, she sighed, “how about you, anyone new?” she repeated.
Stella rolled her eyes, pushing her hair away from her face, “girl, we all know that between you and I, you are the one after the love stuff, I am more concerned about a good f**k,” she licked her lips, deriving an eye roll from Tracy.
“Yeah, tell me about it. Anyway there is no one yet.”
“Wow, still recovering from Gary? I understand, he is one hella heck handsome of a guy. But I won’t feel bad for you, I told you he was my type, the f**k people, but you didn’t give a damn.”
“Did you come here to see me or to blame me?” Tracy was forced to ask.
Stella smiled, “I came to see you of course, and also know if you have gotten any new f**k,” she grinned.
Tracy sighed, “remind me why I’m friends with you?”
“Because you love me and you can’t get a hotter chick like me as a best friend, duh.”
Tracy smiled with a light chuckle, she licked her lips and exhaled, “well, there is no one new but…” she paused and frowned, “do I look insane to you?”
“Um…I don’t understand.”
“Never mind.”
“Hey, whenever you say that, then I should mind, what’s going on.”
Tracy bit her lip, contemplating whether to confide in her but at the end, she gave in. Stella is the only one she could tell anything. “Ah f**k it, what would you do if you notice that of recent you have been paying rather close attention to someone you shouldn’t.”
“Um, if want me to answer that, then you need to be more detailed.”
“Come on, what’s going to be more detailed than what I just said?”
“Do you want me to answer your question or not?”
“Fine, let’s say that there is a guy who has always been by your side but you have never paid attention to him in that way and then suddenly, you started paying extra attention including the way he dress, and also finding the way he eats sexy, what do you think it’s happening?”
“First of all, there is no way there would be a guy by my side without me noticing him, and secondly to your question, I would say you are growing attraction to the said guy, duh? How did you get in touch with Gary and your exes, didn’t you grow attraction to them?” Stella rolled her eyes at the stupid question.
“Okay okay, I know how growing attraction develops, it’s just…what if you are growing it for someone you shouldn’t, someone you hella shouldn’t.”
Stella stared at her, a cocky smile appearing on her lips, “are you getting into a forbidden relationship Trace, because I like it. Tell me, is he your neighbor’s husband or someone’s fiancé?
“Stella, focus,” Tracy rolled her eyes.
“I am focused, damn,” she chuckled, leaning closer to her, “finally, your life is finally getting interesting, maybe all you have needed this while was something forbidden to spice you up.”
Tracy chuckled softly, “I’m serious Stella.”
“I know you are girl, I know you are. So tell me, who is he?”
“Someone I can never have?”
“Oh, so he is your neighbor’s husband, damn,” she glanced around the diner and then leaned closer to her, “in as much as I would want you getting into something forbidden, I can’t really advice infidelity, I pity the poor woman, but maybe one night would kill everything?”
Tracy laughed softly, “oh my God, Stella, I thought you just said you wouldn’t advice infidelity?”
“I know I did, but my girl needs an action in her life, maybe she wouldn’t mind just for one night.”
Tracy shook her head, “he is not my neighbor’s husband.”
“Oh thank God,” Stella placed a hand on her chest, “I was thinking I am having my highest sin, encouraging something bad. Phew,” she breathed heavily, making Tracy to roll her eyes. “So, who is he then?”
Tracy tucked her hair behind her ear, glancing around the diner, “do you remember the boy I told you is my younger brother?”
Tracy watched as her eyes widened in shock, “Nathan?”
“Hush,” Tracy leaned over and covered her mouth immediately, doing a quick scan around to make sure no one was paying attention to them, “everyone here knows him.”
“Oh My God,” Stella said when she finally let go of her mouth, “but he is like ten years younger than you.”
“That’s what I’m saying,” she buried her face in her hands, “see, someone I can’t have. I don’t know but it all started the night he punched Gary in the face.”
“He punched Gary in the face?” Stella was horrified, “goodness me, how is he now because I am pretty sure that Gary damaged his face.”
Tracy smiled, “you will be surprise to know that he actually broke Gary’s nose with a punch.”
“That’s a big fat lie.”
“But it isn’t,” Tracy chuckled, “they went into a combat but I know Gary was going a little easy on him or maybe he hasn’t gotten him really angry or something but in all, I am just thankful I was there.”
“Damn, he is one brave kid, does he know Gary is a boxer?”
“He does.”
“And he punched him?”
Tracy shrugged, she sighed and licked her lips, tucking her hair behind her ear, “all I know is that that night, after cleaning his wound, I made the mistake of taking off his shirt because…” she closed her eyes.
“Yeah I know,” Stella nodded, “I noticed his body underneath that shirt the day you introduced me and I know that I have been like ‘whoa, how could you survive staring at that all the time without getting any feeling’ and now it turns out you can’t really stay immune.”
Tracy bit her thumbnail, “I…I don’t know what to do. I can’t believe that this is happening and I can’t do this to him, I can’t ruin his future.”
“Ruin? What do you mean ruin his future?”
“Come on Stella, if I should have anything to do with him and it got out, do you realize the stigma he would live with and me? I don’t think I can live being called a pedo.”
“I don’t understand, how old is he?”
“He will be eighteen next week Saturday.”
“And that my dear, is a legal adult right there, so what is this about being called a pedo?”
“You don’t understand, I have been around him since he was born, no one is going to believe it started when he was eighteen.”
“So, who cares what people would say, they always talk anyway,” Stella rolled her eyes, sipping her juice.
“Wait, you seem relaxed with this,” Tracy frowned.
“Why wouldn’t I be? Girl, you have a hot guy beside you every single time and besides, no one knows why things happens the way they do. If you ask me, the only thing I am more concerned about is how you will approach him because we both know that if he doesn’t feel the same way, it might ruin your relationship with him.”
“Exactly, that is another thing and the worst part is that he doesn’t realize what he is doing to me, he acts comfortable around me and does whatever he wants and then I am the one that have to live with all the desire and stuff.”
“Damn, that’s a really big problem.”
“Tell me about it.”
Stella sighed as the waitress finally brought their orders. She watched her as she left, sighing once more. None of them said anything as they started eating their chicken and chips and burgers. After some minutes, Stella’s eyes brightened up and she glanced at Tracy with a smile, “say, what if in a crazy scenario, he feels the same way about you?”
“What?”
“What if he is affected by you as you are affected by him?”
“No, that is not possible,” she was saying and then James words that night flooded her mind, “or is it possible?”
“Girl, if it is possible for you, it is possible for him.”
“Yeah, I mean, there was this party last Saturday and a guy named James mentioned something similar about him thinking he is in love with me judging by the fact that he doesn’t have a girl friend nor those he mingle with girls his age but I didn’t believe him, I mean back then I still see him as my younger brother and stuff.”
“Then?” Stella was grinning; it was obvious she was enjoying the conversation.
“Girl I don’t know, I don’t want to take any chances.”
“Then be prepared to die in regret, I mean, if someone suggested that to you, couldn’t it be because they know something? And I assure you, if you withdraw yourself and didn’t find out, you are going to regret when you later do.”
“Stella, do you understand what you saying?”
“I haven’t said anything yet, here is what I am saying, how about seducing him?”
“What?” Tracy was horrified.
