The next day was miserable, rain pouring down in spades and wind blowing loudly through the trees as branches and leaves floated to the ground. It was freezing as well and Kinley wondered how Sam would react to what she was about to propose. She headed downstairs to find he was already eating breakfast alone, his head slumped down and his shoulders hunched as he spooned some cereal into his mouth. His eyes lit up when he saw Kinley who had managed the one thing she could handle in the morning: making coffee and drinking it down profusely as she sat opposite him. She dared not question him about his father's absence or his aunt that Kinley really disliked already. Instead she stared out of the windows, seeing plenty of puddles splattered about on the driveway. "Let's play outside today"
