The long street in the Imperial City's southern part was the most prominent place beside the Imperial Palace!
The Grand Preceptor was the position of high authority. Not to mention Russell was the teacher of the emperors of the two dynasties!
Two vivid stone lions stood in front of the Grand Preceptor's residence. The guards beside them were all mighty, at least level seven of the Realm of Qi Condensation.
Seeing Will and Serena approaching, the guard stopped them and said, "Guests should stop here!"
"Please tell him Will Cherish comes to visit the grand Preceptor!"
"Will Cherish?"
The guard glanced at Will, then turned around and walked into the residence without saying a word.
The rest of the guards, out of curiosity, glanced at Will.
They knew there was only one Will in this Imperial City who was qualified to visit the Grand Preceptor. However, their glances were not respectful at all!
Will realized he was humiliated by the entire world, and the more Will realized the importance of getting stronger. Without power, even the noble prince would be despised by the whole world!
Soon after, the main gate of the residence was fully opened, and a man stepped out. He looks very old, in his seventies or eighties, but he was spirited. Will couldn't perceive his real cultivation level, but he was positive that Russell was very powerful!
Obviously, he could only be in a high position with such powerful strength.
"Forgive me for not welcoming Your Highness in time!" Russell smiled, and within a few steps, he was in front of Will, and he immediately bowed to Will.
Serena said that this old man was a good person, but he was clearly out of his element, considering his etiquette!
Will bowed, too. "Don't say that! I should respect the elder."
Russell laughed and said, "Your Highness, please this way!"
"Thank you!" They walked in side by side, followed by Serena.
The guards at the gate were curious why the Grand Preceptor would show such respect?
"Your Highness, please sit down. Somebody serve them a drink, please!"
Will thanked Russell, and then he said directly, "Grand Preceptor, I am coming here this time to ask you for help!"
Will was straightforward. He didn't want to beat the bush and waste their time and energy.
Russell smiled and stayed calm when he heard what Will said, "Surprisingly, Your Highness is so frank. But does Your Highness know that I have been waiting for this day for several years?"
Will's eyes dodged. Russell smiled, and continued, "I can promise you that from today, my party and I can become a supporter of Your Highness and protect you. No matter who the enemy is, I will solve it."
This was precisely what Will wanted. He had to win the support of Russell to gain enough time to grow more powerful. But he knew that without the corresponding cost, he couldn't gain anything!
Will waited quietly, and Russell said straightforwardly, too. "All the prince has to do is to give me the Painting of Thousands of Mountains and Rivers left by the late empress."
It was what Will had guessed! He said, "Do you know that this is the only item my mother left me?"
"Of course!"
Russell said, "The only item the empress left to you is, of course, very important to you. However, compared to life, which is more important? No offense, but if there is no protection of my party, Your Highness, it will be difficult to survive and make any moves in the palace. Any trap set by your enemy will kill you."
"Your Highness is lucky to be alive till today. However, can you always be so lucky? Although the painting is very important, it is not as important as the safety of Your life. I also believe the empress also hopes that the prince will be safe."
Will smiled silently, "If I don't agree to your conditions, then are we on bad terms? You would let me die?"
"Yes. Please consider it carefully."
Russell didn’t need to hide from his ambition because he was not the one begging for help.
Will sighed and then slowly got up. "After the death of my mother, today is the first time that I am treated with such courtesy by others, and it is the first time someone served a drink to me. Even if you request something highly valuable to me, I am still very thankful..."
"Sorry! I just can't give the item my mother left me to you. Goodbye!"
