Waking the next morning, she got ready as she always had. Walking to work was always the same. She decided to skip breakfast today. She wasn’t feeling it. Her wolf was restless and anxious. She wouldn’t quiet down, and it was pissing off Trinity.
Moving throughout her day as normal. Practicing with another one of her fighters, Karma. He was as formidable as her other fighters. He had worked hard and was almost to the point of fighting for the next tier.
Lunchtime came around, and she ate over at the diner again. After leaving, she was mindlessly walking towards her gym. To the outside world, she looked as though she was not paying attention. When, in all actuality, she was paying very close attention. She knew every sound, movement, and smell around her.
The second they stepped within her range, she smelled them. Rogues.
“Warriors!” Trinity called out.
She could feel the roughs advancing as their feet pounded the ground and their scents grew stronger. They came running from between two buildings. There were 3 warriors that were in the fight with her. There were easily 10 or 15 rouges. Confusion as to how they were able to get so far in lightly glanced her mind.
Focusing on her surroundings, she watched as each warrior fell. They fought valiantly, but they were no match for so many. 2 rouges had been killed, but the rest were surrounding her.
She could hear shouts from around her as she heard the King’s warriors were on their way, but at this rate, they were already too late.
Trinity moved and quickly dispatched several of them to the underworld. Her claws were out and sharp. Sinking into fresh and bones. Kicking and hitting each rouge that came her way. They were all inexperienced or had not had proper training. Their ability to defend themselves was minimal.
With precision, Trinity moved through the group of rouges with ease. Training as much as she does, drastically increased her chances of success in defeating them all. They were chaotic in their movements. Had they moved in unison, she wouldn’t have stood a chance, but they weren’t. Some were holding back and waiting for others to move in. This allowed Trinity the ability to focus on everything, but didn’t hinder her ability to fight the ones in front of her currently.
She could see the fear in their eyes. They were not prepared for someone as skilled as her. Several of them tried to take off, but she caught up with them fast enough. If they thought attacking this pack specifically, was a good idea, they were very wrong. They had made their choices, now they had to deal with the consequences. It was obvious they thought sheer numbers would be in their favor, and had they gone up against almost anyone else, it would have, but instead they got Trinity.
Ripping the heart from the last rouge, the King’s Beta finally arrived. He was in wolf form, but just stood there in shock. Trinity was covered in blood, but she had received very minimal damage. A few bites here and there. Nothing that was of concern. She got worse when she was in training. Her wolf quickly went to work healing her.
The King’s Beta approached her and quickly shifted to his human self. Grabbing some clothes he had brought, he quickly dressed while Trinity moved over to a spicket in the front of one of the buildings. She quickly washed her arms off. The smell was nauseating as rouge blood smelled like rotting flesh.
“Where are the others?” He asked. Keeping a close eye on Trinity.
“Others?” She looked at him.
“Yes, the others that were here fighting.” His statement wasn’t so much a statement, but more of a questioning tone behind it.
“There aren’t any. It’s just me.”
Her arms were now free of any blood. Standing, she flicked them harshly to rid them of any water droplets.
“Don’t lie to me. There is no way you fought off all of these rouges by yourself.” The Beta’s tone was very condescending and sent Trinity’s blood to a boil.
“How dare…” Trinity was cut off by a few people walking up towards them.
“Beta Drake, I can attest to the honesty of her. I was there hiding when the rouges showed up. I cannot fight as I did with a pup. She fought all of them off by herself.” It was one of the servers from the diner.
The Beta looked at me questioningly. He sized me up before linking to someone, probably the King or the Prince.
“Thank you for protecting the pack.” His compliment sounded forced.
Turning around, he started walking off before abruptly stopping. She watched as he turned back around to look at her.
“The prince is on his way. He needs your account of the events of today.”
Rolling my eyes as I rattled off a bunch of frustrations in my head. Crossing my arms, I leaned against one of the buildings waiting for the prince to arrive.
Zero came around the corner and saw me. He gave me a big smile.
“You look thrilled.” He motions to my stance as he closes the distance between us.
“Very. Just because I got rid of some rogues, now the prince wants my personal account. They act like a woman could never fight that many rogues.” I motioned to the dead bodies being carried away.
“If anyone could have done it, it would be you.” His words held conviction.
“Thanks.” I tried giving him a half smile, but my mood had been fouled up by the events.
Still wondering how the rogues got this far in the first place. Someone let them in is what my thoughts are. They got in too quietly without warriors being notified. I’m surprised more warriors hadn’t showed up. Then again, they are probably out in the forest finding their point of entry.
I was watching a bee as it buzzed by me. First going to the flowers at the storefront, then moving across the street to some of the flowers there. Then, coming back to investigate the brick on the building, I was leaning against it.
Suddenly, my wolf was on high alert. She was not thrilled with whatever was coming. Her teeth were bared, and her hackles were up. She can be a very temperamental wolf, but she doesn’t often react this way.
The smell of vanilla chai came wafting my way. It smelled wonderful. Someone was brewing a phenomenal cup of tea. My mouth salivated at the scent. Curiosity was getting the best of me. 2 buildings down, there was a coffee shop. Moving towards it, I expected the smell to grow in intensity, but instead it was wavering. They weren’t the ones making it.
Moving back to the building, I looked up and down the building, checking to see if any other shops around me were the origin of the scent.
I was walking down the sidewalk, and heard someone call for me.
“Woman, the prince is almost here. You need to stay close. He does not like to be kept waiting.”
“Don’t call me woman.” She snapped. “Name is Trinity.”
“What a unique name for a vivacious woman.” Another voice said close to me.
Turning around quickly, I met a pair of green eyes. They could have swallowed me whole had I not had my bearings about me. The owner of the eyes was massive. He was several feet taller than me. His long black hair waved in the breeze. The smell of vanilla chai hit me again. Causing me to take a step back.
Amira, her wolf, had lost her mind. She was barking and nearly foaming at the mouth. She was pissed. Never had Trinity seen her act like this. The ruckus was giving her a headache.
Trinity slitted her eyes at the man. Suspicious of his intentions and as to why Amira didn’t like him so much. Wolves look into one another’s eyes as a territory display. She wasn’t going to be the first one to look away. It was a sign of weakness.
The power that hit her nearly stopped her breathing. Amira was growling and standing in a threat display.
“Mate,” Amira barked.
That caused Trinity to take a step back. She has never been interested in a mate. With Amira’s reaction, she really didn’t like this dude.
“Why such a sour face? Aren’t you excited about meeting your mate?” The man was teasing her.
“I’m not interested. I am waiting for the prince, and I have things I need to do.” She was very short with the man.
“Watch how you talk to Prince Dominik,” Beta Drake barked.
“f*****g great.” Trinity said aloud as she looked at the man before her.
