Chapter 4

I woke up to a clicking sound. The gentle tap of small forces moving across a marble floor. High heels. My eyes fluttered open, and I took in my surroundings. The walls were white, the only light coming from a small diamond chandelier mounted in the ceiling. Cosmetics were neatly arranged on a white antique vanity in the corner. The place smelled like women's perfume and hairspray. Just then, the tapping sound came again, this time getting louder. A shadow appeared on the wall in the hallway. A thin, willowy figure with round, prominent breasts. Rose Delacourt appeared in the doorway, dressed in a silk black bathrobe and a red wine glass in her hand. I blushed at the sight of her. "Oh, good, you're awake" she said, setting her glass down the vanity. She leaned forward to check herself in the mirror. "I was worried that rude gentleman with the tattoos had hurt you worse than I thought." "What...happened?" I asked. "After that attack, I called up my chauffeur and had my bodyguard drop you into the car, then I had him bring you here. Hope you don't mind." "Not at all, mam." My eyes wondered to her rear as she bent over the vanity. The way her bathrobe flowed over her form. I felt all the blood rush between my legs, and I tried to restrain it. Rose mercifully stood up straight. "Pardon me while I go get changed" she said. She disappeared out the door. A few seconds later, I heard a door open and close. This was my chance. I quietly slipped out of bed, then snuck out of the bedroom. The first thing I was greeted with was the most luxurious living room I had ever seen. I could tell from the city-view in the windows that it was a penthouse. White leather couches, a sleek kitchen area in one corner, and a shiny black piano in the other. I wondered into the kitchen area. The black granite counter was smooth and clean. There was an empty wine glass on it, with only a small pool of red at the bottom. I recognized it as the glass Rose had just a minute ago. I heard humming in the other room. Rose was changing in the other room. I could feel another boner coming at the thought of her. Her slowly slipping out of her bathrobe, the silk falling from her pale skin... This time I did slap myself. This woman offered me as a guest in her home after saving my life. It was no time to be a pervert. I needed to distract myself. I took the wine glass off the counter and took it to the sink. I rolled up my sleeves before filling it with water. I took the bottle of soap and squirt a bit into the glass, then began scrubbing inside with a cloth. "It seems a busboy's job is never done" I jumped, nearly dropping the glass into the dishwater. I spun around, and saw Rose sitting at the breakfast bar watching me. She'd changed into a casual purple dress. "I'm so sorry, Miss Delacourt" I stuttered. I glanced down and noticed my sudsy hands were dripping water onto the floor. My face flushed red. I quickly grabbed another cloth and began furiously drying my hands. "I'm sorry, Miss Delacourt, I just thought I'd—" She was suddenly right next to me, and gently wrapped my hand in hers. "No need to apologize, Mr. Luxembourg" she said. "There's no need to apologize for a kind favor." She slipped the cloth out of my other hand, and gently tossed it on the counter. She kept her hands around mind, feeling my palms and fingers. My heart slowly began to quicken, and my whole body felt hot. "You have such nice hands, Mr. Luxembourg" "Probably from years of soapy dishwater" I said nervously. She ignored me and continued to turn my hands over. Hers were cold as ice, but softer than any silk I'd ever felt. "Mr. Luxembourg" she said. "How long have you been working at Montgomery's?" "Since my freshmen year in college, mam. Three years." "How much do you get paid?" "About $10.75 an hour. Thirty bucks with tips." "How would you like to be paid ten times that for similar work?" I raised an eyebrow. "Could you please elaborate?" "I fired a butler of mine recently, and I've been searching for a replacement. You seem to have experience in maintenance being a busboy. And your first inclination when you saw that empty wine glass was to clean it." "Well, after three years, I've just gotten into the habit of cleaning anything I've seen." "Exactly why you'd be perfect for this position" she took a seat at the breakfast bar, crossing one leg over the other. "Your work wouldn't be that different. You would keep the penthouse clean, do laundry, cook dinner, things you already have to do for yourself. I can provide you with a wage far more impressive than anything that bumbling Mr. Albany can pay you." I consider the offer for a moment, rolling it around in my head. I liked Montgomery's, but a little extra money for rent and food never hurt. But could I really just leave the place behind with Lance and Emily? Then I glanced up at Rose. She gazed at me with those piercing blue eyes, her crimson lips sneered into a sexy grin. I could feel words falling out of my mouth without my permission and no attempt to stop them. "I'll take the job" I said. "I'll leave my resignation on Mr. Albany's desk tomorrow morning." She smirked. "See you tomorrow, then."
