CHAPTER FOURTarina awoke to see one of her shoes sliding from one end of her cabin to the other and at once realised that they were into a rough sea. Her first thought was whether she would be a good sailor – her second was of Betty. She looked at her watch and saw that she had slept later than she intended, but she had been very tired when she went to bed. Not only was it the tiredness of exhaustion, but also of excitement. One of the Stewards had brought her a delicious dinner on a tray. As she might have expected, the Marquis had a very good chef aboard and she ate more than she had ever eaten at home.
