4 - Bright Star Pack

Darren POV

    "Ugh, I'm so sick of my parents pestering me about finding my mate," I groaned, as I plopped down on the couch in the game room.

    "I can't believe they are making both of us wait to become the official Alpha and Beta.  Why does it matter, whether or not we have mates?" Gavin complained, as he plopped down beside me.

    "It's such bullshit.  We both have a line of she-wolves, that would happily accept the title of Luna.  Why does it have to be our fated mate?" I added, then groaned again.

    "Hopefully we find them at this damn celebration," Gavin angrily huffed.

    "I know right?  But I'm telling you right now, even if I find her, I'm not changing anything about the way I live my life," I adamantly stated in all seriousness.

    "Me neither," Gavin agreed.

    Just then, the sexiest she-wolf in our pack, came prancing into the game room.  As soon as she laid eyes on me, she smirked and stalked toward me.  She was quick to lean down and whisper, "Follow me, Alpha."

    Right away, I flashed Gavin a triumphant smirk, then followed her out of the room.  She had the body of a model, perfectly curved, with an ass I could smack all day.  She was wearing a tight red tube dress, allowing me to see her perfect ass bounce with every step.  Her long, brown hair fell halfway down her back in loose curls, that were also bouncing, as she walked.

Bethany POV

    After I left home, I blocked my mind link, and kept it that way until I woke up.  Before I even opened my eyes, I mind linked James, 'Hey, bro.  I'm at Aunt Sydney's pack.  I'll mind link again in a few days.'

    Before he had a chance to respond, I put the block back up, to keep anybody from mind linking me.  I needed time to work through my emotions, before I tried to explain to my parents, why I left.  

    Suddenly, I heard movement in the room.  I opened my eyes to see Aunt Sydney setting a tray down on the coffee table.  I sat up and mumbled, "Good morning."

    "Good afternoon, dear," she quickly replied.

    "What time is it?" I groggily asked.

    "It is three in the afternoon," she replied with a chuckle.

    "Oh my!  I never sleep this late," I exclaimed in astonishment.

    "It's your body's way of dealing with whatever has happened to make you leave home," she nonchalantly explained.

    That makes sense, I thought to myself, as I glanced at the tray.  There were ham and cheese sandwiches, cucumber slices, and little blocks of cheddar cheese.  She also brought a glass of tea, and a cup of coffee.  

    Sydney picked up the cup of coffee, then handed it to me, with a smile playing on her lips.  After we ate the tasty lunch, she point blank asked, "Why did you leave home?"

    I took a deep breath, then I gushed, "I have been in love with Jackson, since I was a very young pup.  We found out last night, that he is Estella's mate.  I couldn't handle staying there, and watching them become happy mates, so I decided to leave in search of my mate."

    "Oh dear, why didn't you talk to your parents about this, before you left.  You know, you're mum is a total mess," she sympathetically replied.

    "I know, but I left them a letter explaining why I left, and I confided everything to my brother James.  I also mind linked him, as soon as I woke up, to let him know, I made it here."

    "Okay, dear.  How long do you plan on staying?" she curiously asked.

    "Probably just one more night, then I'm gonna head to Uncle Anton's pack," I quickly replied.

    "If your mate is here, you will find out at dinner.  We all eat dinner together," she enthusiastically stated.

    "Okay, that's cool.  What time is dinner?" I asked.

    "We will be eating at six," she immediately answered.

    "Good, I have time to take a shower.  I'm going to run down to my Jeep, and grab some clean clothes out of my suitcase.  I'll be right back," I stated, as I stood up and slid my flip flops on.

    As I walked toward the door, Sydney replied, "Leave the door cracked, in case you forget what room I'm in."

    "Okay," I chirped, as I walked out of her room, then I made my way out to my Jeep.  

    It wasn't my first time coming to the Bright Star Pack, but it had been awhile.  Once I got outside, I looked around, and immediately noticed that nothing had changed, besides the size of some of the trees and bushes.  

    While I took in my surroundings, I had a memory flash into my head.  I was playing hide-n-seek with a brother and sister, named Charlie and Carly.  They were twins, and we would play for hours, every time my parents brought us here to visit.  The memory brought a smile to my face, and made me wonder if either of them were still around.  

    I picked up my pace and quickly rummaged through my suitcase.  After I pulled out my light pink sundress and a clean pair of white panties, I grabbed my hairbrush out of my other suitcase, then I walked back to my aunt's room.

    As soon as I got there, I curiously asked, "Is Charlie or Carly still around."

    Aunt Sydney beamed a smile, as she cheerfully replied, "They are both still here.  You will be able to catch up with them at dinner."

    "Sweet," I happily chirped, before I went to the bathroom and took a quick shower.

    As soon as I was finished with my shower, I pulled my hair back into a french braid and got dressed.  When I stepped out of the bathroom, Sydney flashed me a smile, as she thoughtfully stated, "Bethany, you look beautiful in that sundress."

    I gave her a little curtsy, then I cheerfully replied, "Thank you."

    Since I was ready to head down, we decided to make our way to the dining hall early.  Sydney sat down at a chair in the middle of the first table, so I sat down right next to her.  We were the first to arrive, but it wasn't long before others started arriving.

    I was in the middle of telling my aunt about how much I had already learned in the medical field, when I was suddenly engulfed by a set of strong, muscular arms.  I turned my head, then locked eyes with Charlie's sparkling blue eyes.  As soon as he released his hold on me, I jumped to my feet, then wrapped my arms around him, as I exclaimed, "Oh my Goddess, I was hoping I would get to see you."

    Suddenly, I heard a growl from across the room.  I dropped my arms from around him, and he immediately took a step back, then he gave me an apologetic look, as he said, "Sorry, my mate, Lucy, she gets a little mad when other shewolves touch me."

    I giggled before I replied, "No worries.  I would love to meet her."

    Charlie grabbed my hand, then he pulled me over to her.  Once we were standing in front of her, he let go of my hand, then draped his arm over her shoulders.  He beamed a smile, as he introduced us, "Lucy, this is my friend from the Silver Moon Pack.  Her name is Bethany Braden.  Bethany, this is my gorgeous mate, Lucy Desmond."

    I gave her a genuine smile, as I said, "It's so nice to meet you, Lucy.  I must say, you really are gorgeous."  She had shoulder length blonde hair, with the sides pinned back with butterfly clips.  She had big amber eyes, that radiated warmth; and when she smiled, her whole face lit up.

    She returned the smile and replied, "It's nice to meet you, too.  I love your eyes.  That is the coolest color."

    I playfully batted my eyelashes at her, then I cheerfully chirped, "Thanks!  I consider them to be one of my best assets."

    The three of us laughed, as we walked back to where I was sitting.  They sat across from us, then it was just a few more minutes before Carly also joined.  It was great being able to visit with them.  

    I learned that Carly hadn't found her mate either, so I offered for her to travel with me, and she immediately accepted the invitation.  I was excited to have a travel companion, and somebody else to hang out with, when we got to the Forest Pack.  Of course, I knew I would have my cousins there, but I was looking forward to having a non family member to confide in.
