The road leading from the Folker Valley to the Capitol was so dusty that Amadeus had gathered enough sand to fill the Sahara desert. A Luxdale court servant named Lucille had brought her a tray of lavish toiletries that puts hotels in New York city to shame. The tray was filled with bottles of perfume that had unfamiliar but sweet scents, soft bars of soap, vials of bath essences, a collection of scented oils and a small basket of dried flower petals. Lucille also gave her a flowing, green gown, a selection of leather shoes and undergarments so she could change out of her armor for the evening banquet.
