It gets closer to dinner time and Layla disappears to start cooking dinner. She enjoys cooking, it is one of the few things she learned in her childhood that she actually continued doing. Most other tasks caused emotional turmoil but cooking for people that appreciated it like Jake, Tom and Anna was so gratifying that it turned from a chore to a joy.
Cooking for such a large group is hard but she has learned how to do it efficiently. The best thing about being in the pack house compared to being at school is there is only one man stupid enough to hit on Layla, and that is Andrew, but she can handle one, so usually she is just left to her own devices.
Jake keeps working for a while longer. Jamming in a whole bunch of work while the beautiful distraction is away.
