12 Nathan, his eyes half-closed as he fought the urge to sleep, sat at his desk, a file from the Larsson abuse investigation – its official designation – open in front of him. The rest of the files from the investigation were stacked around the desk, with one stack for the files he had gone through, and two for those he had yet to read. He could have gone through the files on his computer, which was silent and inactive, as had been pointed out to him by his partner.
