PROLOGUE
*Unknown POV*
"Shhh... there, there, my sweet child, hush now." I whispered softly to the tiny bundle of joy in my arms. My only reason for living. My daughter.
She was being fussy, and I knew she was hungry, so I sat down on my bed and pulled my brêast out so that I could nurse her. She latched on to my nîpple and suckled greedily. I lifted one of my hands to my face and wiped the tears that started to fall down my face.
I dreaded what I was about to do. It was something that was going to destroy me completely. I had to give her away. She had to be kept safe, and she wasn't safe here with me. She was destined for something beyond my control.
Her father would punish me severely if he knew what I was about to do. He was a very powerful being, and I knew I would suffer dearly for what I was going to do. He was all about family and power. He had been so happy when I had become pregnant with my Cassandra, but the plans he had for her were not something I wanted for my daughter.
He didn't believe in fated mates. I had been a chosen mate for him because of what I was. It brought power and money to his family. My parents didn't give me much of a choice in the matter either. I had only been seventeen at the time.
He treated me well, but he had a dark side when he was mad. I knew not to anger him or be disobedient. I learned to love him, but I still longed for my true mate. I didn't think I would ever get the chance to meet him.
I wanted my daughter to have happiness, but I was afraid for her. I had had a vision before she was born, and what I saw scared me to death. Her mate was a demon hybrid of some sort, and he was meant for great things, but only if he didn't get captured. Very bad people would be looking for him. If they got their hands on him, the world would be completely under their control.
My daughter would be in the middle of that. I couldn't bear to have her under the control of the wrong people once they realized just exactly what she was. I had to protect her in ways that only a mother could.
I wanted her to be with her fated mate, I truly did, but only after I knew she would be safe with him. She was the most precious thing I had in this realm, and I wanted to make sure she would stay that way.
I took a deep breath and looked down to see that my sweet little baby girl was completely past out from drinking too much milk. She had a sated smile as milk dripped from the corner of her mouth. I chuckled softly and wiped the milk away with the sleeve of my shirt.
I leaned down and kissed her forehead and then carefully got up and placed her in her crib. I placed a soft blanket over her and then
walked over to the door and peeked out. There was no one around, and I knew my husband was currently taking care of business with his men. It would be a couple more hours before he came home.
I quickly left the room and rushed to my private study. I made sure no one was around and whispered a small spell to open my secret room. Once the door appeared, I rushed inside and grabbed the one book that I needed. I opened it up and began the spell.
My daughter had to stay a virgin at all costs. There was no way she could give her virginity to someone who wasn't her mate. I refused to let that happen. I looked through the book until I came across a spell that would keep a chastity belt of sorts on her, and no one would be able to take her virginity unless they were her mate.
It sounded strange even for me, but I had little options. She would stay untouched until her mate claimed her.
I said the spell and then ripped another page out. It was a spell to hide someone and their true identity. No one could know who Cassandra truly was.
Once I finished the spell, I quickly left my secret room and said the spell to close it back up. I rushed back to my room and quickly got dressed. I grabbed a cloak to hide my identity, and then I picked Cassandra up and wrapped her in a blanket.
I made sure she was bundled warmly and that everything she would need was in the bag I carried. I made sure to grab several wads of cash that I had saved for this exact moment.
I shoved them into a bag and snuck out of my home with my daughter cradled in my arms.
Once I was off the grounds and stepped past the border, I felt the pain. I sucked in a deep breath and kept going. I felt my husband's rage immediately, but I blocked him out. I quickly said another spell and waited a few seconds before the portal opened.
I stepped inside and heard the distinct howling of the guards before the portal closed.

As soon as we made it safely to Earth Realm, I said the spell to hide mine and my daughter's identity and our location. I knew this would be the perfect place to hide my daughter. I knew a few witches in this realm, and I wanted them to watch my daughter and protect her.
I teleported to the country of England. There was an old witch who lived there that I had known for many years. Her name was Tisha. I didn't get to see her as much because I lived in a different realm than her, but we had ways to communicate.
Once we made it to the countryside, it began to rain hard. I made sure my daughter stayed dry, and then I rushed to her little cottage she had hidden away.
I knocked on the door and waited for her to answer. "Hold your pollywogs, I'm coming." She snapped impatiently. I chuckled softly and shook my head in amusement.
Tisha slung the door open and stopped dead in her tracks. Her eyes widened in shock. "What happened? Why are you here?" She gasped loudly as she motioned me inside. She did a quick sweep with her eyes to make sure no one followed me, and then when she felt satisfied that no one did, she closed the door.
She spun around and rushed to give me a hug. "I have been so worried about you and Cassandra. Is everything alright?" She asked with concern.
I shook my head and began sobbing uncontrollably. "No. Nothing is okay. I have to ask a huge favor of you. I have to keep my daughter safe," I sniffled softly, "I want you to take care of my daughter and keep her hidden from everyone, including myself. I have everything you will need, plus I have cash to help you. Once he finds out what I have done, he will force a way for me to tell him where she is, but if I don't know, then he can't find her. You know I have no control with him. He is too powerful, and the bond will force me into submission. Please, you can't let anyone find Cassandra. She is meant for great things, but no one can know who and what she is."
Tisha gawked at me with shock and then shook her head. "I don't understand. Why do you need to hide her?"
I placed Cassandra gently down on the couch and reached over, and grabbed Tisha's hand. I closed my eyes and showed her the vision I had. She inhaled sharply and jerked her hand away. "Oh my god," She gasped loudly, "There hasn't been one of those in over two millenniums. She is far more special than we ever realized."
I nodded my head as tears streamed down my face. "Now you understand why I did what I did. She will not be just anyone's wife, like my husband wants. I won't let her destiny be destroyed by the greed of my husband. She is meant for something far more important. Her mate is special, but he is very dangerous. We must keep them away from each other until the time is right. She must stay hidden. You have to keep her identity a secret, even to herself. I have done a spell that will keep her virginity intact. It is important that she is pure and untouched. Her future depends on it."
Tisha embraces me and lets me cry until I can't anymore. "I will do what you ask of me, but know that it weighs heavy on my heart to separate a mother and child." She says with a sad smile. "I need to get back," I whimpered softly. "He's going to hurt you, sweetie. Just stay here with us. Please." She pleaded.
"I can't. I can already feel his pull trying to find me. The longer I stay away, the worse he will be. I can't be anywhere near my daughter. It's for the best. Just make sure she knows one day how much I love her." I whispered roughly as I took my necklace off and handed it over to Tisha. "Give this to her when she is old enough to wear it. Once she places it around her neck, no one will be able to take it off of her. It has a special message from me, but she has to figure out how to unlock it." I said, leaning down and kissing my daughter's cheek.
"Mama loves you, sweetheart, so much. One day, you will understand the sacrifice I made for you. It's for the best, I promise," I whispered roughly and then stood up and looked and looked at Tisha, "Take care of my daughter. Keep her safe at all costs."
"I will, my friend. I promise." Tisha said as tears formed in her eyes. I wiped the tears from mine and turned around and left.
I said a spell and waited for the portal to appear. I stepped inside and teleported back to my realm.
When I walked out of the portal and into my realm, I looked up and tensed. Standing several feet in front of me was my husband waiting for me. He was shaking with fury. "So good of you to return," He sneered as he snatched me around the arm and drew me close to his chest, "Where the fûck is my daughter?"
Before I could open my mouth, I felt a prick in my neck, "You're in so much trouble, wife, but don't worry, I have my ways to make you talk. I can't wait to make you bleed for me."
My life as I knew it was over, but I didn't care. I would do anything to protect my Cassandra, even bleed for my husband.
Those were my last thoughts before darkness came for me, and then there was nothing
