Chapter 8: Our First Dance

Margaux's POV

The parents agreed that after ng graduation ceremony ay magkakaroon ng early dinner dito sa auditorium. May short program din daw after ng dinner and si Sir Aldrin din yung organizer. He put too much effort for us that's why we like him, he's considerate. 

Nakita ko sila mom and dad na nakaupo sa assigned table para sa amin kaya pinuntahan ko sila tapos nakiupo na din ako while waiting for our food. 

"Just enjoy this night honey, you'll gonna miss your high school life kapag college ka na." Mom told me. 

"Yes po mommy, I'll make this night memorable together with my batchmates." I assured her. 

"Dear parents and graduates, please enjoy the food and be ready for the next part. Thank you very much, bon apetit." Sabi ni Sir Alrdin sa harap tapos umalis din agad. 

The waiters served our food kaya kumain na kami. We're on the middle of eating when mom suddenly asked something na maging ako ay hindi alam kung ano ang isa sagot ko. 

"Oh I almost forgot to ask you about the dress. Who sent it to you?" Tanong ni mommy sa akin. 

"I thought it was the designer? Nagpa gawa si Margaux diba?" Dad butt in with his confused tone. 

"Darling, the designer called me and she said they can't deliver Margaux's dress. I was surprised when she called me and asked about the dress. Her dress was delivered into our house yesterday." Mom explained to dad. 

Dad just nodded but he's still confused, I mean all of us are confused. 

"Then who sent you that beautiful dress?" Tanong ni dad sa akin. 

"Hindi ko din po alam dad. Tinanong ko po yung delivery boy pero hindi din daw niya alam. He even told me that when I won't accept the dress then matatanggal daw siya sa trabaho niya." I explained to my parents. 

"Who would do such thing?" Dad asked. 

Hinawakan ni mommy yung kamay ni dad tapos nag salita siya. 

"Let's just be thankful, bagay na bagay naman yung dress may Margaux. She looks conservative but elegant and gorgeous, I mean our daughter looks like an angel with her dress. Right Darling?" 

"Alright, let's just eat." Dad surrendered kasi alam niyang wala siyang laban kay mommy. 

That's what I admire about them, dad always puts down his pride for mom. 

After naming kumain ay nag rest muna kami ng konti tapos nag start na yung evening program. 

"Alright, did you enjoyed your dinner? We hope you enjoyed eating together as a family. This night is will be a memorable one because the parents and you, students will socialize with each other. Cherish this night dear graduates, you will miss your high school life when you'll go on your way to pursue your degree." Sir Aldrin said. 

Asan kaya sila Jen? Hinahanap ko kung asan yung table nila tapos nakita ko doon sa may medyo malapit dito sa table namin. Adrian is sitting with them, he's talking with Jen's parents. 

"May I call the batch valedictorian to render us a song? Please give Ms. Diaz a clap." Biglang tawag ni Sir Aldrin sa akin mula sa harapan. 

"What? Why me?" 

"Go honey, sing for us." Tinulak ako ni mom papunta sa harapan. 

AKO? bakit ako? Hindi ako ready and I don't know what to sing. 

Nagpalakpakan silang lahat nung nasa harapan na ako. Hindi naman problema yung guitar and the likes kasi nag hire yung school ng banda pero nahihiya ako. Andito si Adrian kaya hindi dapat ako pumalpak. 

Okey, I can do this. Since I'm an avid fan of Taylor Swift then I'm gonna sing her song, 

"Invisible" 

Para kay Adrian yung kakantahin ko, hindi niya ako kayang pansinin eh. It pains me so I'm going to say it to him through this song. 

"I'm gonna sing Invisible by Taylor Swift so please listen up." Sabi ko tapos nag simula ng tumugtog yung band sa likod ko

She never notice how you stop and stare whenever she walks by

Although hindi ko alam kung anong meron sa girlfriend ni Adrian na wala sa akin pero andito naman ako? Bakit siya pa? 

I just closed my eyes as I hit the chorus.

Hindi related yung ibang lyrics sa akin but the last sentences pierced through my heart. Kung pinapansin lang sana ako ni Adrian then sana may improvement sa amin pero wala eh, I'm invisible to him.

This time tumingin na ako kay Adrian, gustong gusto kong sabihin ang mga katagang ito sa kanya. I hope hell get it right this time. I'm getting emotional here but I need to finish the song without crying.

I finished the song pero naka tingin parin ako kay Adrian. He's avoiding my gaze I know but I can't do anything about it. I'm okay, sanay na ako sa ganyan na treatment from him. 

Nagpalakpakan yung mga tao kaya ngumiti nalang ako ng pilot tapos dumiretso na ako sa CR. 

Hindi muna ako pupunta sa table namin, baka makita nila mom kung gaano ako kadismaya at kalungkot. I don't want them to see my pain, I need to calm myself down first before going back. 

Nakaharap ako ngayon sa mirror habang nakayuko nung narinig ko yung boses ni Jen mula sa labas. 

"Beech, I know that you're not fine. Open this door and let me in." 

In times like this, I need Jen by my side. I need someone to talk to so I opened the door and let her in. 

"You know the feeling that you're lying to yourself everytime? Yung tipong alam mo na masakit pero pinipilit mo nalang yung mga katagang, "ayos lang ako, sanay naman ako" pero alam mong hindi totoo iyon. Pinipilit ko parin na mag stay kahit wala talaga akong pag-asa sa kanya. I know I'm still young and I'm too young for him but does it even matter? Hindi manlang niya ako kayang pagtuunan ng pansin. He's treating me like dirt kapag malapit ako sa kanya." Naiiyak na sabi ko kay Jen.

She sighed and started talking. 

"Just like the old days, I won't stop you from what you are doing but can't you atleast love yourself first? You can't pester him forever Margaux, you know that." Jen told me while running his hand through my back. 

"I know I can't do this forever but I cent stop myself. I love him this much na kahit ganyan siya sa akin ay mahal ko parin siya."

Hindi nawawala yung feelings ko kay Adrian kahit anong gawin ko, I tried so many times but its hopeless. 

"I just hope you'll stop doing this Margaux, I'm saying this not because kuya Adrian is my cousin but because I can't see you like this. Where's my confident beech? I want her back, BADLY." Jen said. 

"Alright, last na talaga ito. Kapag sobra akong sinaktan ni Adrian then titigil na talaga ako. Ayos na ba iyon sa pandinig mo?" I asked her. 

"Better, now let's head back. Baka hinahanap na tayo doon." Jen replied and then wen headed back. 

"Saan ka galing?" Tanong ni mommy nung bumalik ako sa table namin. 

"Sa CR po, kasama ko po si Jen doon kanina." Sagot ko naman kay mommy. 

"Okay, akala ko kung saan ka na pumunta after finishing your song." Mom said. 

Kinabahan ako bigla, paano kung mag tatanong sila mommy kung bakit iyon yung kinanta ko. Pero hindi naman sa nag tanong sa akin and that's good. 

"The next part would be a dance for all. Pwedeng isayaw ng mga parents ang kanilang anak, it can be student paired with another student or parent with their parent. Go and find a partner now." Sir Aldrin announced. 

"Dad, isayaw mo si mom." Ngiting sabi ko kay dad. 

"Gladly." Dad just chuckled then he held mom's hand tapos pumunta na sila sa dance floor para sumayaw. 

Everyone here is happily dancing, yung iba nagtatawanan while dancing with their parents, others are dancing with their friends and may mga lovers din na sumasayaw. 

Okay, ayokong maging bitter kaya hanggang SANA ALL nalang ako. 

"Hi Margaux, can I ask you to dance?" Napalingon ako sa batchmate ko na nag-aaya ng sayaw. Hindi ko din alam ang pangalan niya pero familiar siya and he's handsome. 

Tatanggi sana ako pero dahil nakita ko si Matt na papunta sa direksyon namin ay tinanggap ko nalang yung kamay nung lalaki. 

Mas maganda na yung ganito compared to dancing with Matt, magma mayabang na naman iyon. 

"I'm Mark by the way." He guy introduced his name while we're dancing. 

"I bet you already know mh name right? I mean you just mentioned kanina." I told him. 

"Of course, who wouldn't know the famous Cheerleader and most beautiful woman in the campus." He said then he chuckled. 

Ang gwapo niya, may dimples din siya. I'm so into people with dimples, nakaka attract kasing tignan. Those dimples suit Mark well, mas dumagdag sa kagwapuhan niya. 

"Is that a compliment or an insult?" I joked back. 

"Ha? It was a compliment of course." He immediately replied. 

"Hahahaha, ano na Mark. It was a joke, masyado mo namang sineryoso." I told him while laughing. 

"Oh sorry not sorry." He told me with a playful tone. 

I like talking to him, atleast siya may sense na kausap unlike Matt na puno ng hangin at kayabangan ang ulo.

"Nice to meet you Mark." I told him. 

"Me too, Its my pleasure to finally meet you in person." He smiled at me. 

"OKEY cut it out na. Change partner naman tayo." Jen interrupted us with her loud voice. 

Napalingon kami sa kanya tapos nakita ko na si Adrain pala yung kasayaw niya. Sasayaw kami ni Adrian? I never got the chance to dance with him last year during my debut party kasi sobra siyang distant and hindi namin kilala yung isa't isa. 

"Change partner nga tayo Margaux, kayo muna ni kuya Adrian ang sasayaw." Just after saying those ay hinila na ni Jen si Mark tapos iniwan kaming dalawa ni adrian na nakatingin lang sa isa't isa. 

Nafeel ko na wala talagang balak si Adrian na is ayaw ako kaya aalis nalang ako, hindi na kasi ako aasa na siya mismo ang mag initiate. 

"Ahhh sige, aalis muna ako. Doon muna ako sa table namin, bye." Pamamaalam ko kay Adrian. 

Ang sakit kasi eh, yung naka tayo lang kayong dalawa tapos walang nagsasalita, ang awkward lang kasi. Tumalikod na ako para umalis pero nag salita siya sa likod ko. 

"Wait up." He said. 

Napahinto ako sa paglalakad pero hindi muna ako lumingon sa kanya. 

"Let's....." Hindi niya tinuloy yung sasabihin sana niya kasi lumingon na ako sa kanya. 

"Ha? Ano yun?" Tanong ko sa kanya. 

Sheyt, kinakabahan ako. Ano kaya yung sasabihin ni Adrian? 

"Let's........... Nevermind." Iyan nalang yung nasabi niya tapos nag lakad paalis leaving me standing alone on the center of the crowd. 

Ganoon nalang ba? Tatawagin niya ako tapos wala palang sasabihin tapos iiwan niya ako dito? Naka tayo lang ako tapos nakayuko noong biglang may humawak sa bewang ko. 

That scent!!! Dahil sa sobrang kaba ay tinaas ko yung ulo ko para kumpirmahin kung siya nga. 

"A-Adrian? I thought..." Hindi malapaniwalang sabi ko kay Adrian. 

"Oh shut up and put your hands on my shoulder." He plainly replied. 

"But..." He cut me again. 

"The time is ticking." He said with a warning tone. 

Eto na ba? This is my chance and dapat hindi ko sayangin kasi alam kong mahirap makakuha ng ganitong pagkakataon, not with Adrian of course. 

I put my hand on his shoulders and then we started swinging slowly, naka tingin lang kami sa isa't isa. Hindi ko na mabilang kung ilang beses na nagtama yung mga mata namin ni Adrian ngayong araw. 

Para akong napipi dahil walang salitang lumalabas kahit pilitin ko man na ibuka ang a king bibig. Baka marinig pa ni Adrian yung malakas na pintig ng puso ko tapos pinagpapawisan na din ako. 

"So, that Matthew Corpuz guys is your boyfriend huh?" Adrian suddenly asked me. 

Ha? Ano daw? Hindi ko jowa yung mayabang na iyon! Matt, masasakal na talaga kita! 

Mag rereact sana ako tapos sasabihigg hindi ko boyfriend si Matt pero naisip ko yung girlfriend ni Adrian kaya bigla akong nainis. Instead of saying na walang kami ni Matt ay iba ang sinabi ko. 

"May girlfriend ka din naman diba? Nakita nga namin kayo sa office mo na naghahalikan tapos kasama mo pa siya sa MOA na....."

"Cut it out Margaux." He said with a gentle voice. 

Wait, what? He called me by my name? This is the first time that Adrian will call me using my name. Lagi kasi niyang ginagamit yung family name ko kapag tinataboy niya ako so why call me Margaux now? Tapos yung boses niya, ibang iba sa Toni na ginagamit niya kapag nag-uusap kami. Bakit malumanay na ngayon? Why Adrian? 

"Y-you called me Margaux, wow. I mean, it's the very first time." Sabi ko ng hindi makapaniwala. 

"What's wrong with that? Your name is Margaux right?" He replied. 

"Yeah but, you used to call me Ms. Diaz" Sagot ko naman. 

"Just....... Just let this night pass through. Consider this as your graduation gift." He said. 

No Adrian, this is not just a mere graduation gift to me, its more than that. This night is a treasure that I must keep inside my treasure box. I'll replay this scene over and over again, that's how I love you. 

"Thank you then." I just said. 

As much as I want to stay like this forever but the music ended and atapos na yung sayaw namin. Humiwalay si Adrian sa akin but he's still starring at me. 

"Salamat Adrian." I Thanked him. 

You don't know how this night made me feel. 

"Don't mention it. You look beautiful with your hair and your dress, it suits you. You look like an angel." And with that he went away from me. Hindi na siya lumingon sa akin, I'm just starring at his broad back. 

Why did Adrian said those ones? He doesn't even know how he made me feel. We even danced and that dance is
