When I reach our floor, I’m gasping for breath, every muscle in my body quivering from overexertion. Damn. I know Scott’s already at the room, he has to be—he stayed half a flight of stairs ahead of me the whole way. But when I burst through the stairwell door into our hallway, I don’t see him. The door to our room is shut. Where is he? Slowly, I walk down the hall, taking my time to catch my breath. “Scott?” I call out, tentative. Is he already in the room, maybe? Or hiding behind one of the potted plants, waiting to jump out at me? I don’t see him… “Scott? This isn’t funny.” At our room, I turn the latch, but the door stays shut. He has the only keycard.
