*George POV*
Black suit, shirt and shoes, I look like a million bucks as I hold my devastated mother like a good son.
Grandfathers massive portrait is displayed on the screen with hundreds of really expensive flowers around his open glass casket. Add the black and gold deco, catering, the whole memorial service costed millions. It’s okay, though. The profits of all this splendour is much more. All these people are supposedly here to mourn grandfather but there is no such a thing in the world of riches.
One will each say a few calculated words but the real reasons they are all here is to make more money.
“I know that the two of you did not always see eye to eye, but he loved you dearly.”
“I know, Mother and I loved him dearly too,” I respond with a hoarse voice. I am really good at this faking being hurt thing.
Deep inside I am over the moon that the old man finally kicked the bucket. The asshole was becoming a real pain with all the Jake praising and his threats to cut me off his wealth. Now I have it all and the sucker can be fed to the dogs for all I care.
Mother and I walk around the room accepting condolences from the wealthiest men in the country before we also get to what it’s really about.
“There is Bella Andrews, you should go say hello,” my mother suggests while pushing me towards my first girlfriend. She might want to appear all kind and humane but she is just as greedy as all of us here. She was born from wealth and married to wealthy after all.
“No match-making, Mother,” I rebuke her.
She and I have spoken at length about this. Ever since she found out about Leticia staying in my apartment, she’s been preaching to me none stop about having a woman from our class.
“I would not need to if you did not run around with tramps whose families don’t even fixture on the top hundred richest families,” she snaps and I thought she was still mourning for her father-in-law.
“Again, Mother, she’s a good f**k. Nothing else,” I whisper to her but she is not impressed.
“The Andrews empire is now worth billions. Bella over there is the heiress. You better decide what matters more to you because you are not the only illegible bachelor here.”
I literally look around and count at least twenty bachelors in the room. That’s enough to send me running to Bella’s side. Stupid grandfather did give a lot of his money to charity. I will need partnership with another wealthy family to be on top of my game. Bella is no Miss Asherway, but she is hot, loaded and still has hits for me.
I bring out all my charms and Bella is melting. At this rate, I might become the wealthiest man in here faster than I thought.
I am still chatting and catching up with Bella when Leticia budges into the hall, attracting a lot of attention. What the f**k is she doing here?
I can see Mother cursing with a corner of my eye as I make big strides towards Leticia and roughly pull her outside.
She looks at me with misty accusing eyes. “You did not invite me to your grandfather’s funeral service. Are you ashamed of me?”
I sigh, maybe it is time to close this chapter. I only needed her to break that lowly janitor and that all done with. Besides the s*x, I no longer need her.
“You are not invited because you are nothing but a poor little tramp who could not even keep her legs shut while engaged to another man.”
Her eyes pop out like sorcerers. This chic really lives in dreamland.
“What? Don’t tell me you thought I would be stupid enough to actually keep you around,” I add and the b***h starts crying and clinging to my suit. Someone should inform her how much it actually cost to get this silk straightened out.
“George…how can you say this to me?”
She actually sounds hurt. I guess she really did believe all that fairy tale stuff she posted about us on social media.
“You need to get out of here while you still have some dignity left.”
“I am not going anywhere! You gave me your word!”she yells and stands her ground.
I can help but laugh. “The same word you gave your ex fiancé?”
“George.”
“Security! Please escort this woman out of here.”
“Ge..orge, Babe..please.”
“Bye, Leticia.”
The guards are pulling her out when she starts screaming and shouting.
“I am pregnant, George!”
This chick thinks I am some ammeter born yesterday. She had no idea how many have tried to tie me down with that s**t.
“Get rid of it or it’s all yours and who is to say it is actually mine?” I shout back. “You do have a history of being loose,” I add as she wails all the way to the gate.
Now that is all done with, I can focus all my energy on climbing the wealth ladder and Bella is the key to that.
I have just returned inside when another pestilence walks in.
Like a fucken’ alpha, he walks all tall with the special agents around him. Like hell am I going to let him crash my grandfather’s funeral service.
I apologise to Bella for leaving our conversation hanging again and approach him.
“Spencer senior spoke so highly of you. Off course you may say a few words,” my stupid mother has welcomed and even leading the i***t towards the coffin before I make it to him.
He bows his head when he reaches the casket and mumbles something before he turning his body to face me.
“George Spencer, you are under arrest for the attempted assassination of the President of Asherway.”
“What?”
One of the agent’s is already putting cuffs on me and the whole hall is gasping in disbelief and exchanging looks.
“You have the right to remain silent…” the sore to my side continues.
“What the f**k do you think you are doing?”
“Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law….” Jake continues reciting my rights. My head is already spinning by the time they move to everyone of my friends and cuffing them.
“Mother, please call our lawyer,” I instruct before I am escorted outside like a criminal. The expression on Bella’s face is enough to tell me that the union between us is now never going to happen.
The expression on my friend’s faces when our eyes meet does not yield anything useful. We checked this i***t out the moment he messed up everything and saved the president and came out with nothing. Besides all the speculations out there, the reliable information from the highest office in the land also came back with nothing. Even though I have not managed to c***k the code to some of his password protected files, Grandfather actually had more information on him than what we got from our contact in the presidency. The question ringing in my head now is who the f**k Jake really is and how does he have the authority to arrest us?
The secret service and even the military would think twice before arresting the five richest heirs in the country, yet he does not look the least worried about the aftermath of his actions.
