Now it made sense. Shade could control and manipulate shadows. That explained why the Guardians’ shadows suddenly betrayed them, which was still a weird thing to think about. It also made me marvel at Shade’s power. Even though I’d already seen her pull off some pretty amazing things with her powers, seeing her controlling the Guardians’ shadows like puppets was another thing entirely. With a power like that, I was glad she was on my side. Overkill no longer seemed as shocked as before.
