Varden had expected Elizabeth Powers to look unattractive. At least that way, it was going to be easy as hell, to hate her, and probably keep his distance all through the sham he was about to involve himself in.
But as he walked towards the table he had reserved, and caught sight of the woman sitting there, he knew he was in for trouble. Not only was she quite, she also looked like the kind of woman who looked down on anything she didn’t think worthy of her time.
