I woke up with a jolt, my heart pounding in my chest. It took me a few seconds to realize that Koda wasn’t in his room. Panic surged through me like a tidal wave. I raced down the hall, calling out his name, but there was no answer. I checked his usual hiding spots, but he was nowhere to be found.
I must have circled the hall three times, my mind racing with worst-case scenarios. What if something happened to him? What if someone took him?
Unable to contain my fear any longer, I made my way to Bane’s room and knocked urgently. The door swung open, and I hurried inside, not even pausing to acknowledge his towering presence.
