We spent most of the morning walking and talking about different things to occupy ourselves from boredom. We stayed near the river so we could find the village before dark. The mermaid that Alaric talked to and her group were swimming by flirting with the guys every once and a while. Xavier ignored them after he told them hey the first time they showed up, but Alaric would wave sometimes ... only to get a reaction out of Alyssa. Mostly it was smacks on the arm and huffs and puffs along with eye rolls. Xavier and I were walking a few steps behind them.
"Can you say toxic?" Xavier laughed when Alyssa smacked Alaric's arm for the millionth.
"Yeah, like who wants a relationship based off of so much jealousy." I chuckled nervously, but my heart ached a little.
