When I get back to the farm, I go upstairs to drop the dress off and change into work clothes. Wren is already there, packing up the last of her things and I smile at her like the sight doesn’t kill me. “Want help?” I ask.
She shakes her head, smoothing down stripes of clear tape across the box tops. “Nah. I’m done. Have a coffee with me before you go back down?”
“Sure.”
“I’ll make it. You go change.”
A few minutes later, we meet back in the living room, Wren barefoot and in a sundress, me in my usual polo and shorts uniform. My sister passes me a mug of coffee and flops down on the couch next to me. “You were with Holly, right? Did she tell you about going wedding dress shopping?”
“No, what happened?”
“She didn’t like the dress, or the shop’s seamstress
